BATE vs Chelsea

Early-evening UEFA Europa League action comes from Borisov Arena on Thursday as two of Group L go head-to-head when Chelsea travel to Belarus in pursuit of a fourth-straight win in the European group stages as they take on a BATE side bottom of the group. The sides have already met once in this competition, with that fixture coming last month at Stamford Bridge – and it was the English Premier League side who ran out 3-1 winners. BATE will be desperate to defy the odds here in what is expected to be a hostile atmosphere in only the second ever meeting between these two teams.

BATE have been preparing diligently for their second clash with the former Champions League winners under the watchful eye of manager Aleksey Baha, with three-straight wins in the Belarusian top-flight after their 3-1 loss to the group toppers at the end of last month. They undoubtedly face a tough task here, representative of their odds of 7/1 with Bet Victor, whilst a draw is 7/2 with Bet365 and could be an interesting bet to think about considering their bumper crowd who will be getting behind them. Two of their last three matches have also seen BATE score less than three goals and under 2.5 goals in this one is 11/10 with Paddy Power, whilst a safer option of under 3.5 goals is 4/11 with the same bookmaker.

Spearheading any form of success in BATE’s fixture this week will be Maksim Skavysh, who has nine goals domestically this term and the 28-year-old to bag a goal in 90 minutes here is 11/2 with Bet365, which is certainly an attractive price. 31-year-old midfielder Aleksey Rios scored his sides only goal on their visit to Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago and Rios to score again here is 6/1, also with Bet365.

Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea remain unbeaten this term across all competitions and look like a strong contender for every competition they find themselves in. The London-based giants will be confident of travelling to foreign soil to pick up three points which would all but guarantee their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League, but a first loss of the season could actually leave them at the bottom of Group L, which would be an utter disaster. Three-straight wins over Burnley, Derby County and Crystal Palace suggest the former Champions League winners are fully prepared for a trip to Borisov and a win here is priced at 4/11 with Paddy Power.

The Blues have also scored three goals in each of their last four matches in all competitions, including in their 3-1 win over BATE and another three goals on foreign soil here is an attractive 6/4 with Sky Bet.

The men leading the line this week will be Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who scored a wonderful hat-trick in the reverse fixture, as well as Pedro, Willian and potentially Alvaro Morata, who could be forced to play ahead of the injured Olivier Giroud. Both Loftus-Cheek and Morata are in form, with the Spaniard having also scored a brace Crystal Palace last weekend and both players to score here are good prices of 15/8 and 11/10 respectively – both with Sky Bet.
