Blackpool vs Solihull Moors

After being held to a goalless draw at Damson Park just over a fortnight ago, Blackpool has another chance to finish the job by eliminating Solihull Moors from the second round of the FA Cup at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday. The reward for the winners is a lucrative home tie against Arsenal and the Seasiders currently sit eighth in Sky Bet League One, but were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Oxford United at The Kassam Stadium on Saturday. Solihull Moors, from the Vanarama National League, are currently coached by former England goalkeeper Tim Flowers and they are they make a quick return to the coast having beaten Southport 1-0 in the FA Trophy on Saturday. Last month’s 0-0 draw was the first time the two teams had ever faced each other and the home side start as 1/2 favourites with Coral to land that dream tie with The Gunners.

That defeat at Oxford last weekend was only Blackpool’s second in their last nine matches in all competitions and manager Terry McPhillips knows that the pressure is on to deliver a positive result on Tuesday. In round one they disposed of Exeter City and Chairman Owen Oyston knows that the financial rewards that a game against Arsenal will bring are massive for a club who have struggled with debt problems for many years.

Ivory Coast striker Armand Gnanduillet is the club’s top goalscorer this term with eight in all competitions, but he’s yet to get off the mark in the FA Cup. SkyBet price him at 11/10 to change that statistic on Tuesday with his strike-partner Nathan Delfouneso, who has five goals to his name so far this term, priced at 11/8. McPhillips has injury worries ahead of the game with both Curtis Tilt and Ollie Turton struggling for fitness. Centre-half Tilt missed Saturday’s defeat at Oxford with a hip injury and his defensive partner Turton had a day to forget; scoring an own-goal to put his side one-down before coming off at half-time with a hamstring injury.

Solihull Moors in their current guise were only formed in 2007 and Tuesday night’s match is already the biggest in the club’s fledgling history. The Non-League side believe they should already be preparing for the visit of Arsenal having had what looked like a perfectly valid goal disallowed in the first encounter at Damson Park.

The visitors arrive at Bloomfield Road unbeaten in their last 12 in all competitions and boss Tim Flowers is quietly confident his team can get the job done on Tuesday. Top goalscorer Adi Yussuf is averaging a goal every 189 minutes this season so it’s easy to see why Betfair are quoting odds of 7/2 for the player to get on the scoresheet against the Seasiders. His teammate, veteran frontman Danny Wright has eight goals to his credit so far this term and Betfair also offer odds of 7/2 for the 34-year-old to be on target during the 90 minutes.
