Bournemouth vs Liverpool

Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off sees Liverpool make the trip south to face Bournemouth away from home. Following victories in midweek, both teams will be feeling confident heading into this one, which is sure to be a competitive clash.

Bournemouth finally put an end to their losing streak in midweek against Huddersfield Town, beating the Terriers 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium. Heading into the clash, Eddie Howe’s team had lost four straight games in the Premier League but bounced back in front of their home supporters, with both Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser getting on the scoresheet in the first half.

It was a much-needed win for the Cherries, who had struggled in the weeks prior, losing against Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City during that time, which doesn’t bode well for this clash against another one of the top six. Bournemouth have tended to perform well against sides in and around themselves at home, but overcoming the challenge of the top teams has proved troublesome. Bournemouth are the outsiders at 17/4 with BetVictor in this one.

The form of striker Wilson is also something for the Cherries to be buoyant about, with the recently-capped England striker scoring eight goals in 15 appearances this season and is thriving now that he is injury-free. Wilson is priced at 8/1 with Betfair to open the scoring in this game, as he did in midweek.

They enter this game sat 7th in the Premier League table and could rise to 6th with a win here, leapfrogging Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals Everton in the process.

Liverpool picked up a huge victory on Wednesday night, keeping within touching distance of Manchester City with a come-from-behind win away to Burnley. Initially falling behind through a scrappy Jack Cork goal, the Reds came back to win via goals from James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri.

The 3-1 victory now means that should the Reds pick up another three points at Bournemouth this Saturday they would go top of the Premier League for at least a few hours, putting the pressure on Manchester City before their trip to Chelsea. There is still the accusation that Jurgen Klopp’s side still aren’t firing on all cylinders, yet they are still just two points shy of Pep Guardiola’s team and have made the best start to a league season in the club’s history.

As such, it’s no surprise to see Liverpool favoured to win here at 4/6 with Bet365, having now won each of their last four games in the Premier League. Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Firmino were all absent from the Reds’ starting XI on Wednesday night, with Liverpool proving they can still get over the line without their dynamic trio.

With back-to-back Anfield fixtures against Napoli and Manchester United to come following this game, Klopp will be keen for his team to produce a professional job before a huge week back in Liverpool.
