Bournemouth vs Manchester United

This weekend’s opening Premier League match comes from the Vitality Stadium as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth take on Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in the lunchtime kick off. The hosts are flying high in the top six after 10 matches, whilst United are struggling by their standards down in eighth and a win here will be vital. The sides last met earlier this year in the corresponding fixture, with United running out 2-0 winners – extending their unbeaten excellent head-to-head record against the Cherries to four wins and just one loss.

Bournemouth have been absolutely magnificent this season and currently sit amongst the top six in the division after the first ten matches of the 2018/19 season. Howe’s men remain one of only four teams who remain unbeaten on their home turf and they’ll be hoping to extend that good statistic with a win this weekend, which is priced at an attractive 23/10 with William Hill. The Cherries have also drawn twice this term and a point for the hosts can be priced at 27/10 with Bet 365. Fans inside the Vitality this weekend will be hoping this season’s fairy-tale can continue and in order to do that they’ll have to avoid changing their attacking approach against what is a big-name side.

The home side’s recent matches have seen Bournemouth beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage and prior to that beat Watford 4-0 away from home, with both games being evidence of their attacking abilities. The hosts to score two goals here could be a smart bet at 7/4 with Sky Bet, whilst over 2.5 goals in the match, which has happened in ten of Bournemouth’s matches this season, is priced at 8/11 with Betway here.

Leading his side to a potential victory will be Callum Wilson, who has been threatening all season and after three goals in as many games recently, the Englishman will be confident of doing that again this week. Wilson to score anytime here is 11/2, whilst his teammate Ryan Fraser has three goals also this term and the Scottish midfielder to also get in on the act is a huge 16/1 with Bet365.

Mourinho’s Manchester United have had an indifferent season in another season in the top-flight this term and at times their manager’s position has been questioned and had recently come under threat, before the European giants managed to put together a three-game unbeaten run in the first division. Their most recent match ended in a 2-1 win over Everton at Old Trafford and prior to that the Red Devils achieved an impressive 2-2 draw away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Mourinho will be desperate to get another win on the board here, which could see United leapfrog Bournemouth.

The former Premier League champions would see their recent form undone here if they were to lose, but their good record against Bournemouth will give them confidence to head South in pursuit of the three points. A win at the Vitality is 11/10 with William Hill – whilst both teams to score is an 5/8 with the same bookmaker.

Looking to continue his impressive form of late will be French international Anthony Martial, who has been nothing short of sensational since his introduction back into his Portuguese manager’s side. The forward has four goals in his last four, which included a brace against Chelsea and a winning goal against Newcastle in a 3-2 win. Elsewhere, Romelu Lukaku will be hoping to end his drought, whilst silencing his critics and the Belgian to score first here is 5/1 with Bet 365.
