Bournemouth vs Watford

Bournemouth will look to arrest their poor run of form in the Premier League on Wednesday night when they face Watford at the Vitality Stadium. The Hornets were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle last time out, with Bournemouth suffering a heavy 4-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Bournemouth have really tailed off in recent weeks, with a difficult set of fixtures seeing them drop down the table, now finding themselves 12th. Eddie Howe has seen his team lose eight of their last 10 matches in the Premier League, losing to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in that time. Also included in that run was two defeats to Manchester United, with the most recent one coming on the road at Old Trafford. Four goals condemned Howe’s side to yet another loss, with United looking rejuvenated under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Cherries are still slight favourites to pick up the win in this one at 17/10 with Betfair, with the team also winning two of their last three home games, both of which came against Huddersfield and Brighton. Their performances against teams in and around them in the league is partly the reason why they have been placed as favourites in this one, particularly at home. Up front the team will also be boosted by the fact that Callum Wilson is back and available for selection, with the striker scoring eight goals in the Premier League so far this season. Wilson is currently priced at 13/8 with Betway to score anytime in this one.

Watford will have hoped for a better return from their back-to-back home games over the festive period, having come away with just a point from their matches at Vicarage Road. The first saw them take on Chelsea at home, where they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Maurizio Sarri’s team, but were certainly hoping for better in their next game against Newcastle United. Salomon Rondon opened the scoring for the away side, but midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure levelled the scores in the 82nd minute of the match.

The Hornets are the outsiders in this match at 7/4 with BetVictor, though it is worth remembering that the team have taken four points from their last two matches away from home in the Premier League. The team have also scored twice in each of their last two games on the road, first in the 2-2 draw away to Everton, before securing a 2-0 win against West Ham United at the London Stadium. In total, they have lost just three of their nine away games in the Premier League, doing so without scoring in the games against Arsenal, Newcastle and Leicester.
