Cardiff City vs Brighton Betting Preview – 10/11/18

Cardiff City vs Brighton

Saturday’s early kickoff sees struggling Cardiff travel to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton. The Bluebirds have been incredibly spirited all season long, but through a painful lack of quality find themselves inside the relegation zone after their opening 11 matches. As for Brighton however, things are looking much rosier as they find themselves comfortably in mid table and pushing the top half.

Everyone predicted a difficult season for Cardiff and the Welsh side ultimately find themselves down in 19th in the Premier League table. Manager Neil Warnock celebrates his 100th game in charge of the club this weekend and he’ll be desperate to celebrate it with a win. After achieving promotion last season, the 69 year old got one last shot at the Premier League before he retired and if he manages to keep the Bluebirds up then it could be one of the best achievements of his managerial career.

Goals have been a big problem for Cardiff so far this season. Apart from that game with Fulham they’ve scored just 5 goals in the rest of their 10 Premier League matches which is just one of the reasons why they find themselves towards the bottom of the table. Due to their host of problems going forward, it could be a low scoring affair in this one. Under 2.5 goals is best priced at 11/20 with Betfair and Betvictor and has landed in 4 0f their opponents Brighton’s last 5 matches so that could be a smart bet here.

Cardiff are desperate for a win in order to propel themselves away from the drop zone. Despite winning just once so far this season, a 4-2 victory over Fulham back in October, the Welsh side find themselves favourites for this one. If you fancy Warnock’s side to pick up the win here they’re best priced at 13/8 with Betfair with the draw available at 11/5 with WilliamHill.

Chris Hughton’s Brighton side look comfortable in their 2nd season in the top flight. The Seagulls sit in 12th place after their opening 11 Premier League matches. The East Sussex side look to be avoiding any chance of second season syndrome and any chance of going back down to the Championship.

Brighton’s away form since their return to the top flight isn’t something that manager Chris Hughton will want to celebrate. They’ve won just 3 of their 25 away matches in the Premier League since their top flight return at the start of last season and will be desperate to improve that record here with a win at struggling Cardiff.

Glenn Murray will be looking to continue his impressive start to the season. The 35 year old has 6 Premier League goals in the opening 11 matches and will be hoping to add to that tally here. The Englishman as scored half of Brighton’s Premier League goals so far this season so will be key to them if they’re to get anything from this one. Murray is best priced at 21/10 to score in 90 mins with Unibet whilst he’s as far back as 5/1 with Bet365 and PaddyPower to get the opening goal in Cardiff so that could be a good bet here.

Brighton’s recent form is the main reason that they find themselves a whole 8 points away from the drop zone. The Seagulls were on a run of three consecutive 1-0 wins before last weekends defeat at Everton, so they’ll be looking to bounce back with a win in this one. Despite that, Chris Hughton’s side find themselves coming into this one as the underdogs. They’re best priced to win here out at 11/5 with SkyBet to take home all three points which could potentially push them in to the top half of the Premier League table.
