Cardiff City vs Tottenham Hotspur

On New Year’s Day, Cardiff City will play host to Tottenham Hotspur in the Welsh capital in a big game for both teams in the Premier League. Cardiff picked up a huge win on the road last time out away to Leicester, while Spurs were dealt a huge blow after a 3-1 defeat to Wolves.

Cardiff picked up their first away win in the Premier League this season last time out, causing something of an upset as they won away to Leicester City. It was a huge result for Neil Warnock and his side, who were excellent and dug out the win in stoppage time thanks to Victor Camarasa’s 92nd minute goal. From their back-to-back away games over the festive period, the Bluebirds managed to take four points from their two matches, keeping clean sheets in each of them. Warnock will be delighted with the form of his side of late, who are currently priced at 13/2 with Bet365 to take the three points from this contest.

They have won five of their last 12 games in the Premier League, losing six and drawing the other one and the team have climbed up to 16th in the table as a result, something which Warnock certainly would’ve taken at the start of the campaign. Three points clear of the relegation zone with a greater goal difference than those in the bottom three, it’s unlikely that even a defeat would leave Cardiff in the bottom three at the end of the day. Now returning to their home ground, the Bluebirds will be looking to bounce back from the 5-1 drubbing they suffered against Manchester United in their last home outing. Before then, though, the team had won three in a row at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Harry Kane Tottenham

Tottenham will have felt a great sense of disappointment on Saturday evening, as the team fell nine points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race. The team saw their five-game win streak come to an end at the hands of Wolves, who came from a goal down in the second half to win 3-1. Three goals in 20 minutes from Willy Boly, Raul Jimenez and Helder Costa cancelled out Harry Kane’s stunning opener, leaving Mauricio Pochettino particularly frustrated at half-time. Spurs have since dropped back down to third place in the Premier League table, two points off City and nine points off the league leaders. Still, Spurs are odds-on favourites to win here at 1/2 with SkyBet.

Talisman Kane has been in solid form in recent weeks in the Premier League, scoring four goals in his last three league appearances, including a brace in the 6-2 drubbing of Everton at Goodison Park. As such, it is unsurprising to see him as the favourite to open the scoring in this one at 13/5 with BetVictor. Away from home, they have won seven of their last eight matches in the Premier League, with Arsenal being the only team to beat them during that excellent run. They are the only team that are yet to draw a game in the Premier League so far this season, currently sitting with 15 wins and five defeats to their name after 20 matches. That number of defeats at this stage of a campaign is rare for a title winner and Spurs may well have to go unbeaten throughout the course of the rest of the season if they are to winning the league this year.
