Champions League Round-Up: 24/10/2018

Club Brugge vs Monaco

The two bottom sides in Group A meet on Wednesday night in the Champions League, with Club Brugge hosting Monaco. It’s been a difficult start for both teams in the competition, with Brugge losing each of their first two games against Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid. Likewise, Monaco have suffered successive defeats and now have Thierry Henry in charge, who recently replaced Leonardo Jardim. Home advantage sees Brugge favoured at 5/4 with Betfair, while Monaco are best-priced at 23/10 with Unibet.

The second early kick-off pairs together two teams who are also pointless in the Champions League this season in PSV and Tottenham Hotspur. PSV sit bottom of the group at present after losing 4-0 to Barcelona and 2-1 to Inter Milan, with Spurs also suffering a 2-1 loss to Inter and a 4-2 defeat against the Catalan side. As such, it’s a must-win game for both teams, with Tottenham currently favoured to win at 1/1 with Bet365, making PSV the outsiders at 13/5 with Paddy Power.

Barca currently sit top of the group after successive victories but will be without Lionel Messi here through injury. Inter also have two victories to their name, but have been forced to come from behind to seal both 2-1 wins. Atletico trail Dortmund only on goal difference after also making a perfect start to the competition, beating Monaco and Club Brugge. Galatasaray vs Schalke

The wide open Group D is hotting up in the Champions League, with Galatasaray and Schalke set to play the first of their double-headers in Turkey on Wednesday. The hosts have three points to their name after two games, having defeated Lokomotiv Moscow but fell to a loss themselves against Porto. Meanwhile, Schalke remain unbeaten after a win and a draw against those two respective sides, finding far more joy in Europe than they have in the Bundesliga so far this term. Galatasaray edge the betting markets at 7/4 with Betfair, with Schalke the narrow outsiders at 9/5 with Bet365 in a game where there isn’t much to choose between the two teams.

Liverpool vs Red Star Belgrade

Last season’s runners-up Liverpool continue their quest to return to the final with a home fixture against Red Star Belgrade. The Reds have three points after two games in the Champions League, with their opening night win over Paris Saint-Germain followed up by a 1-0 defeat away at Napoli last time out. As for Red Star, they have one point from their two matches, holding Napoli to a goalless draw before being thrashed 6-1 at PSG. The bookies have this as a hugely one-sided affair, with Liverpool best priced to win at 1/14 with Betfair, who also have a Red Star win priced at 55/1.

Lokomotiv Moscow vs Porto

The remaining two teams in Group D will meet in Russia, as Porto face Lokomotiv Moscow. It’s been a difficult start for the Russian outfit, who have lost each of their opening two games against Schalke and Galatasaray, leaving them rooted to the foot of the table as we approach the midway stage. Porto meanwhile sit at the top of the group after picking up a draw and a win from their first two games, leaving them in a healthy position coming into this double-header. Unsurprisingly Porto are favourites to win here at 24/23 with Unibet, with a home win priced at 10/3 with Betfair.

PSG vs Napoli

A vital game in Group C sees Paris Saint-Germain host Napoli in what promises to be an exciting game at the Parc Des Princes. Neither team will be overly happy with the start they’ve made, with PSG falling to a 3-2 defeat away to Liverpool in their opening match before thrashing Red Star 6-1. The Serbian side weren’t as generous to Napoli, holding them to a 0-0 draw in their opening game, though Carlo Ancelotti’s men did bag a late 1-0 win over Liverpool last time out. PSG are favoured with SkyBet, Bet365 and William Hill at 4/9 to win here, with Napoli best-priced at 6/1 with Betfair and Bet365.
