Dortmund vs Hertha

One of the games of the weekend in the Bundesliga sees Hertha Berlin making the trip to Westfalenstadion. Hertha enjoyed a fine start to the season but this week’s opponents Borussia Dortmund have taken advantage of their small slide down the table. Dortmund now lead the league having picked up 20 points from a possible 24 and they remain unbeaten after eight games. They go into this weekend on cloud nine following a stunning 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League during the week. That result puts a difficult Champions League group in Dortmund’s hands with three games remaining. Lucien Favre’s men are also on a run of four straight wins in the league, most recently beating Stuttgart to move three points clear at the top. Hertha, however, won’t head to Dortmund with any trepidation having upset the odds already this season. The capital club have beaten Bayern and Monchengladbach this season and those wins have helped their sixth-place position. Berlin are just five points off the leaders, a gap they can reduce this weekend, and just a point off champions Bayern, who are in fourth. Despite Hertha’s giant-killing antics, they are at a long 7/1 with Bet365. Dortmund are strong favourites at 4/9 with Betfair, while a draw is 4/1 with Sky Bet.

Recommended bet: Dortmund to win and both teams to score at 7/4 with Bet Victor – BET HERE

Mainz vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich head to Mainz this weekend as they look to further correct their disappointing start to the season. Niko Kovac’s men are currently in fourth place, four points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund and while they face an uphill challenge to close that gap, they are certainly capable of doing so. The champions are still being tipped to win the league, but to do that they will need to pick up their form. That’s something they took a step towards doing last time out in the league, winning 3-1 against Wolfsburg with 10 men. That result followed a 3-0 home defeat to Monchengladbach. Kovac’s men are going strong in the Champions League, beating AEK in the week to move level on points with Ajax at the top of the group. This week’s opponents Mainz head into this weekend having enjoyed a steady start. They sit in 12th with nine points from eight games, but they too were thrashed by Monchengladbach recently, losing 4-0 last time out. Prior to that, they did draw 0-0 with high flyers Hertha, so they will have some hope of grabbing an unlikely point. Bayern are unsurprisingly huge favourites to win this one at 1/4 with Bet365. A draw is priced at 11/2 while for a Mainz win, you can get huge odds of 12/1 with Bet Victor.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad

Atlético Madrid host Real Sociedad in Saturday night’s La Liga fixture and the home side will be desperate to put a disastrous mid-week display behind them. Atleti were thrashed 4-0 by Borussia Dortmund, all but ending their chances of winning the group. It’s not often Simeone’s men ship goals but they looked a shadow of themselves in Germany on Tuesday. Atleti have also been disappointing in the league of late, drawing against Villarreal last time out and they might have lost that one had it not been from an inspired Jan Oblak display. Simeone’s men have failed to capitalise on the slow start of Real Madrid and Barcelona having only managed 16 points from a possible 27. As things stand, Los Colchoneros are in fifth place, behind Sevilla, Alaves, Espanyol and Barcelona, but they are only two points off the pace. Real Sociedad are currently in ninth having continued from where they left off last season. They head to the Wanda on the back of a goalless draw against Girona and an encouraging away win over Basque rivals Athletic Club. Sociedad will be hoping to finish somewhere in the top half this season, around seventh or eighth and that could prove difficult given how competitive La Liga has been so far this term. Heading to the Wanda, Asier Garitano’s men will be up against it this weekend, but they will be hoping to exploit Atletico’s poor form. Both teams are traditionally rather tight at the back, so don’t expect too many goals in this one. Atletico are favourites at 8/15 with Ladbrokes. Given the home side’s form, a draw may be worth exploring at 3/1 with William Hill. Real Sociedad are at 6/1 with most bookmakers.

Empoli vs Juventus

The champions Juventus head to Empoli this weekend as they look to continue their fine start to the season. The Old Lady already have a four-point gap over Napoli in second, leading the way with an unbeaten record heading into the 10th game of the season. Juve also head into this one on the back of a big European win, beating Manchester United away from home to take charge of Group H. Paulo Dybala scored the winner at Old Trafford and he is 4/1 to open the scoring here. Last time out in the league, Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw with Genoa, who became the first team to deny the leaders a win this season. Empoli will be looking to draw some inspiration from Genoa’s performance, particularly after a slow start to the season which has left them in 18th position. They have only managed eight goals in nine games and they face a monumental challenge at home to the champions this weekend. The odds reflect that with Juve priced at 3/10 to win with Boyle Sports. Empoli are a huge 12/1 with Bet Victor. Betdaq are offering 5/1 on a second consecutive draw for Juventus in the league.

Monaco vs Dijon

Monaco welcome Dijon this weekend as they desperately search for a win following a disastrous start to the season. The Monegasques finished second last season, but after 10 games, they find themselves one from bottom in Ligue 1. Monaco have amassed just six points from their first 10 games, winning just once, leaving them deep in the relegation zone, four points from safety. Monaco have recently drafted in Thierry Henry as manager to change their fortunes, but he hasn’t had much luck just yet, losing to Strasbourg before settling for a draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League. That draw in Europe means Monaco are also likely to miss out on the Champions League knockout stages and they face a battle to progress into the Europa League. Though, European competitions are the least of their concerns. ‘The Red and Whites’ certainly have the talent to turn things around, but something is going seriously wrong and Henry has his work cut out to turn the ship around. Dijon would never have expected this game to be a relegation six-pointer when looking ahead during pre-season, but that’s what it seems to be. Dijon are actually four points and three positions ahead of this weekend’s opponents as things stand and this will be seen as an opportunity to extend that gap. Having said that, given the talent at Henry’s disposal Dijon would almost certainly take a point this weekend. Be365 are offering 3/1 on that eventuality. Monaco are at 3/4 to win with Marathon, while Dijon are at 4/1 with Bet365.
