Everton vs Lincoln City Betting Preview – 05/01/2019

Everton vs Lincoln City

Lincoln City will be aiming to cause a huge upset this Saturday as they take on Everton at Goodison Park in the Third Round of the FA Cup. Marco Silva will be expecting a simple enough win against their League Two opponents on the weekend, but will be encouraging his side not to get complacent – as they have not been in the best of form. Lincoln did not manage to make it past the first round last year after they were knocked out by AFC Wimbledon.

Everton have certainly improved under Marco Silva’s management, but they still remain terribly inconsistent which has held them back this season. However, Silva will be expecting a straightforward win to book themselves a spot in the Fourth Round and the hosts can be backed with SkyBet at 1/6, making them the obvious favourites. With the Toffees being heavy favourites you may want to back them to keep a clean sheet, which sits at a price of 4/5 with SkyBet, however, the hosts have failed to keep a clean sheet over their last eight fixtures in the Premier League.

The hosts have not boasted the best of form in recent games, with them securing just one win in their last eight fixtures but a clash against a lower league side might give them a chance to pick up a win and boost their confidence. Four of Everton’s last six fixtures have ended with over 3.5 goals and for the same to happen here is priced at evens. If selected, Gylfi Sigurdsson will be crucial to his side’s success and he recently joined Richarlison as Everton’s top goal scorers with nine goals apiece and 11/4 at Sky Bet says both will get on the scoresheet.

Lincoln City have been very impressive this season in League Two and after 25 matches sit up in first place, clear of MK Dons by four points. Being placed three divisions below their opponents makes Lincoln huge underdogs and if you are feeling bullish you can back them to win at Bet365 for a price of 16/1. Danny Cowley’s men have scored 1+ goals in their last nine matches and come up against a side that has conceded in all of their last eight fixtures and with SkyBet, 11/10 says Lincoln will score 1+ goals, which is a bet we like considering Everton’s poor form over the last month.

Danny Cowley’s side did not make it past the first round last season, so they have already improved since then and 9/1 with SkyBet says they will qualify to the next round. Danny Cowley’s men have been formidable opponents for the majority of the season, but their form tends to dip when playing away from home with them picking up just two wins on the road. John Akinde provides his side’s biggest attacking threat and has eleven goals this season. He arrives in good form of late after bagging five in his lasts seven appearances and Bet365 has Akinde to score anytime at 9/2.
