Fulham vs Wolves Betting Preview – 26/12/2018

Fulham vs Wolves

Two sides promoted from the Championship last season face off at Craven Cottage, as Fulham play host to Wolves. The away side have certainly made the better transition to life in the top flight, currently finding themselves sat 10th in the Premier League table, while Fulham are rock bottom.

Fulham have been struggling for the vast majority of the season and the arrival of Claudio Ranieri is yet to really spark the response they would’ve hoped for. Slavisa Jokanovic’s team conceded goals for fun in the early weeks of the season and while they hasn’t yet been brought to a halt, they will be encouraged by their performance at the weekend. The team kept their first clean sheet of the season away from home at Newcastle, drawing 0-0 at St. James’ Park. They are 5/2 to keep another clean sheet during the visit of Wolves once again this weekend.

The Cottagers have failed to win any of their last five games in the Premier League, just taking two points from a possible 15 since beating Southampton 3-2 in Ranieri’s first game in charge. The new manager impact is still yet to really come to fruition, with the team also scoring just twice in their last five games after netting three in Ranieri’s first game in charge. They remain four points adrift of safety, currently being joined in the bottom three by Huddersfield Town and Burnley. There is certainly talent in this side, with the likes of Jean-Michel Seri, Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrovic in their team, which should certainly give them hope. Fulham are the outsiders here at 9/4 with BetVictor.

Wolves come into this game looking to bounce back from defeat in this one, having gone down 2-0 to Liverpool at Molineux on Friday night. Nuno Espirito Santo can be encouraged by his side’s performance, having created plenty of opportunities throughout the contest but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net. Two moments of quality from Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk sealed the three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who sit top of the table at Christmas. Before that defeat, Wolves had won three in a row in the Premier League and are now priced at 23/10 with Betfair to pick up three points in this one.

The Midlands side will be delighted with the way they have adjusted to life in the Premier League, already looking like an established team. Perhaps the only thing they are missing is an out-and-out goalscorer, with Raul Jimenez being their leading goalscorer with five strikes to his name. One thing they are yet to do this season is win successive games away from home in the Premier League but have the opportunity to do so here, having won 2-1 in their last away outing at Newcastle. In total, they have won three times away from home in the Premier League and recently picked up a point on the road at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
