Hannover 96 vs Wolfsburg Betting Preview – 09/11/2018

Hannover 96 vs Wolfsburg

Friday night’s Bundesliga action is a bottom-half battle between strugglers Hannover and Wolfsberg at the HDI-Arena.

Wolfsburg hit the road looking to bounce back from defeat against the league-leaders Dortmund last time out, while Hannover are now winless in four games in all competitions. These two teams only met just over a week ago in the DFB Cup and Wolfsburg came out on top in that one.

It’s been a season to forget for Hannover 96 who are currently in 16th position, in the relegation play-off spot, four points from safety and just one point ahead of the relegation zone. This weekend’s opponents Wolfsburg finished in 16th last season and had to win a play-off to avoid relegation, while Hannover enjoyed upper bottom half comfort – it has been a case of role reversal for these two teams this season.

Hannover come into this game on the back of a 3-1 away loss to Schalke and that made it three league games without a win following a defeat to Augsburg and a draw with Bayer Leverkusen. Their last win came back at the start of October when they beat Stuttgart 3-1 at home.

The Reds actually lost against Wolfsburg at home in the cup just over a week ago and there’s likely to be a repeat of that according to the bookmakers. Though, Hannover have scored in each of their last six league games, so if you are going with the favourites, it’s worth backing a Wolfsburg win and both teams to score at 19/5 with Betfred.

Hannover have only managed 12 goals in their first 10 games, so there aren’t too many obvious goal scorers worth backing this Friday. No player has scored more than twice, with Niclas Fullkrug, Forent Muslija, Ihlas Bebou, Bobby Wood and Henrik Weygandt all managing two each. Fullkrug is probably the most likely to find the net and he’s priced at 5/2 to score at any time with Betfair should he shrug off a small injury.

Wolfsburg head to the HDI-Arena on the back of a defeat of their own, losing 1-0 to league-leaders Borussia Dortmund last time out. That result is certainly no real disappointment, especially following a 3-0 win over Fortuna and a 2-0 away cup win over this weekend’s opponents Hannover. The Wolves are enjoying a much more comfortable season this term, sitting in 11th place, six points clear of the relegation play-off position, where they finished last year.

Bruno Labbadia’s men are also within a point of the top half of the table. A top-half finish would represent a good season for Wolfsburg, especially after the disaster that was last season. Wolfsburg have only lost two consecutive games once this season, so they are unsurprisingly favourites at 6/4 with William Hill. Hannover at a longer 9/5 and a draw is priced at 19/10 with Bet365.

Dutchman Wout Weghorst has netted four so far this season and he is the most likely to open the scoring here at 6/1 with Bet365. Swiss duo Renato Steffen and Admir Mehmedi have each chipped in with two and they are priced at 4/1 and 2/1 respectively to score any time with Bet365, providing they both shake off injuries as expected.
