Huddersfield Town vs Burnley Betting Preview – 02/01/2019

Huddersfield Town vs Burnley

A relegation six-pointer at the bottom of the Premier League table sees Huddersfield Town take on Burnley at the John Smith’s Stadium. The Clarets will be looking to build on their significant 2-0 victory over West Ham, while Huddersfield lost their last game 1-0 away to Fulham.

Huddersfield look set to be on a crash course for relegation in their current form, with the team coming into this game with seven straight defeats on their recent record in the Premier League. That form has seen them plummet to the bottom of the table, with the team now occupying 20th in the table, now finding themselves five points off of safety with Southampton in 17th. Goals have also been a real problem during that time, with the side scoring just four goals during their current seven-game losing streak. They are currently priced at 6/5 favourites with Betfair.

Last time out, they lost another huge six-pointer against Fulham, who opened up a four-point gap between the two sides via the victory. Aboubakar Kamara’s missed penalty appeared to have won the side a point, but Aleksandar Mitrovic netted in stoppage time to see Claudio Ranieri’s men take all three points. At home they lost three straight games, while they have failed to score in six of their ten matches at the John Smith’s Stadium. What’s more, they have failed to score more than once in a home game in the Premier League since thrashing Bournemouth 4-1 back in February.

Burnley were handed a huge boost in the Premier League last time out, after coming back from three consecutive defeats to beat West Ham United 2-0 at Turf Moor. First half goals from Chris Wood and Daniel McNeil sealed the victory for the Clarets, who are now in the bottom three only on goal difference. Another win for Sean Dyche’s team in this one would likely see them climb out of the relegation zone, with 17th-placed Southampton travelling to Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Dyche will be setting his team up to win here, though are the outsiders to pick up the three points in this one at 3/1 with Bet365. However, they have won just one of their last 10 games on the road in the Premier League, which reflects their bigger odds to get the three points in this one. They have also scored just once in their last four games on the road, with that coming in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal through Ashley Barnes. Barnes is priced at 9/1 to score first with Paddy Power in this one. Cardiff are the only team to have suffered a home defeat to Burnley so far this term.
