Huddersfield Town vs Fulham Betting Preview – 05/11/2018

Huddersfield Town vs Fulham

Matchday 11 of the Premier League season is rounded off this evening with a huge clash at the bottom of the table, as Huddersfield Town host Fulham at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Both teams have struggled in the early weeks of the season and come into this fixture as the two bottom teams in the division, with the hosts currently sat 20th, while Fulham are just two points better off in 19th.

Huddersfield appear to be suffering from a case of second season syndrome, with the Terriers still waiting for their first win of the campaign after going winless in their opening 10 matches. It’s been a difficult spell for David Wagner, who has known virtually nothing besides prosperity since taking over at the club.

Despite failing to win a game so far this season, Huddersfield are favoured to win this contest at 11/8 with Betfred – that despite the fact they have failed to win a home game or score at home since April.

Goals have clearly been the issue for Huddersfield this season, with the team managing just four in the Premier League so far, giving them the worst record in the league. Taking on a leaky Fulham defence could be just what they need to change that form, though they can’t be feeling too optimistic when they look at the current records of their forwards, none of whom have scored a league goal as of yet.

Still, Huddersfield are fancied to open the scoring in this game at 10/11, in what is bound to be a veciforuous atmosphere at the John Smith’s Stadium. That is also despite the fact that the Terriers haven’t beat Fulham since September 1993, with the Lilywhites doing the double over them in 2016/17 by a 9-1 aggregate scoreline.

Fulham wouldn’t have been expecting things to go all their own way in the early weeks of the season, but a summer that saw them spend over £100m may not have projected struggles so severe as what they are experiencing. You’d fancy a Sunday league side to cause their defence problems, with the team conceding 28 goals in their first 10 matches.

13 of those have come in their last four games, with Arsenal putting five past them while Cardiff struck four in Wales. They have only conceded fewer than three times on just one occasion away from home, which perhaps makes now the perfect time to face the league’s worst attacking team.

Despite the fact they are facing a team that has failed to score in each of their last seven games in the Premier League, Fulham are still priced at a hefty 11/4 to keep a clean sheet. Fulham’s last Premier League win over Burnley at the end of August feels like a very long time ago, with the pressure starting to seriously heat up on Slavisa Jokanovic.

His side are currently priced at 12/5 with Betfair to come away with a huge three points in this one that would actually see them climb out of the relegation zone and leave Southampton in the bottom three.
