Lazio vs AC Milan

Two of the big names in the Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico as Lazio take on AC Milan in the Italian capital. A poor start for the hosts looks to have been recovered as of late and Lazio currently find themselves in fourth, whilst Milan have had a decent season and find themselves one point and one place behind Sunday’s opponents. The sides have actually met twice already this year – with both matches ending 0-0 over 90 minutes in the Copa Italia. However, this weekend’s game should be more reminiscent of the corresponding league tie back in the opening stages of the 2017/18 season which ended in a five-goal thriller.

Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio endured a tough start to the new Serie A season, losing their first two matches. However, the Italian giants have since looked a lot better in the division and aside from the odd loss to the likes of Inter Milan and AS Roma, Lazio look like one of the main contenders for a place in the top-four at least. They did draw 1-1 with Sassuolo last time out and a win this weekend will be the very least of expectations for Lazio, especially at home, and that result is odds of 4/5 with Bet Victor – whilst the draw is an attractive 3/1 with Betway.

Spearheading the Lazio attacks this term so far has been Ciro Immobile. The Italian international has banged in eight goals in 12 appearances this term and is 23/10 with Coral to score first this weekend. Alongside Immobile in the scoring charts has been 33-year-old Marco Parolo – who has three goals in 12 appearances this term – and has been one of the most creative sparks in the Lazio side. Parolo to score anytime here is 9/4 with Sky Bet and the midfielder to score first is 11/1 with Unibet – which could be a good bet considering the Italian international often throws his name in the hat as a potential taker of set pieces and penalty kicks.

AC Milan have made good progress as of late under Gennaro Gattuso and currently find themselves fifth in the Serie A. Despite being the outsiders here at 16/5 with Bet365, the former champions of Europe will be confident of picking up a win here after going three games unbeaten against Lazio, winning the last league meeting between the sides 2-1 at the San Siro. The same scoreline here is 14/1 with Bet Victor, whilst the AC Milan double chance market is a bet we like at evens with Unibet. It will be important for Gattuso’s side to pick up at least a point in this one to avoid potentially dropping out of the top six and that knowledge could force Milan into a defensive style and a clean sheet for the visitors here is 13/8 with Sky Bet.

It is undeniable that the European giants have some utter class in their side and quite frankly, Milan can beat anyone on their day – as they’ve shown in their impressive wins over AS Roma and Olympiakos in the league and Europa League this term. Gonzalo Higuain has five goals in ten matches this term, but won’t feature in this one after being sent off against his old club Juventus last time out. Therefore, it’ll be down to Suso, the next best goal-scorer in the Milan side, to score the goals here. The Spaniard is 17/2 with Ladbrokes to score first and 3/1 with Paddy Power to score in the 90 minutes.
