League One Round-Up: 03/11/2018

AFC Wimbledon vs Shrewsbury

League One action returns to Kingsmeadow this weekend as AFC Wimbledon take on Shrewsbury in an all-important clash for both sides. The hosts are in desperate need of a win after six-straight losses has left them in the relegation zone, whilst Shrews are in 19th, just above the bottom four after six draws has saved their skin this term. Wimbledon, who are priced at 8/5 with Bet Victor to win this one, need a win to avoid being cut adrift and three points could get them out of the drop zone if results go their way. The draw is 11/5 with Bet 365, whilst an away win is 2/1 with Betfair. We are backing under 2.5 goals in this one between two of the lowest scoring sides in the division.

Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 17/11 with Unibet – BET HERE

Barnsley vs Southend United

Oakwell is the host of what could be a very interesting match between Barnsley and Southend on Saturday afternoon as two of the promotion hopefuls in the division go head-to-head. The hosts remain in the playoffs, but back-to-back losses prior to a recent home win over Bristol Rovers has left them low on confidence, but a win here would certainly do that. United were beaten 3-0 by Sunderland last time out and are looking for a bounce-back victory, which can be priced at 7/2 with Betway. The sides have drawn six times accumulatively and that can be priced at 11/4 with Bet 365, but we like Barnsley to win here after an impressive season on the whole on home soil.

Recommended bet: Barnsley to win 3-1 at 12/1 with William Hill – BET HERE

Blackpool vs Bristol Rovers

Blackpool return to League One action after an unsuccessful but impressive defeat to Arsenal in the EFL Cup in midweek. Action comes from Bloomfield Road and the former Premier League side will take on Bristol Rovers in what is an important game for both teams. Blackpool need a win to avoid being cut adrift by the playoff pack, whilst Rovers are one spot above the dreaded drop zone and need a win here to avoid slipping into the bottom four. Both sides lost last time out and we expect an expecting tie between two teams who will come out all guns blazing in this one. A home win is an attractive 10/11 with William Hill, whilst a draw is 12/5 with the same bookmaker and the away win is 10/3 with Bet 365.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals at 11/10 with Betway – BET HERE

Bradford vs Portsmouth

An uninspiring Bradford return to third tier action this weekend to face their toughest task of the season so far at the worst possible time when they face table toppers Portsmouth. The hosts are rock bottom of the league and are on a horrendous losing streak under David Hopkins, whilst the away side under Kenny Jackett have been sensational and despite losing once, look in great shape at the top of the table in their quest to get into the Championship. An unlikely win for the hosts at Valley Parade is 4/1 with Betfair, whilst the draw is 13/5 with Unibet. A Pompey win is 3/4 with William Hill, but we are backing Oliver Hawkins to score his fourth goal in as many games here.

Recommended bet: Oliver Hawkins to score first at 9/2 with Bet 365 – BET HERE

Charlton vs Doncaster Rovers

Third division action returns to The Valley and it’s a clash of the promotion hopefuls as hosts Charlton look to kickstart their campaign with a win over a Doncaster side also looking to bounce back from two-straight defeats. The hosts are without a win in two, but can be priced to win at 6/5 with William Hill, whilst the draw is 5/2 with the same bookmaker. A win for the could see them leapfrog several teams into the top half, but Rovers won’t go down fighting here and a win for them is 23/10 with Betfair. We are expecting an exciting match between two sides who have impressed in front of goal this term.

Recommended bet: Both teams to score at 7/11 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Coventry City vs Accrington Stanley

A resurgent Coventry return to the Ricoh Arena in search of a sixth-straight win and a cemented place in the playoffs against a rival this weekend in Accrington Stanley. This game should be one of the ties of the weekend between two sides who have been excellent this season and with hopes of a playoff place come the end of term. A home win off the back of a 2-1 win last weekend against Doncaster is evens with Bet 365, whilst the away win is 5/2 with the same bookmaker. However, we struggle to separate these two teams and therefore we are backing the draw.

Recommended bet: Draw at 12/5 with Paddy Power – BET HERE

Gillingham vs Fleetwood Town

League One action returns to Priestfield Stadium on Saturday as Gillingham host Fleetwood in an important tie for both sides. The hosts won last time out, but have to look to keep that form up to avoid slipping back into the drop zone, whilst Joey Barton’s side also won and will be hoping to continue their form to get closer to the playoff places, a position they were tipped to be in at the start of the campaign. Gillingham won the corresponding fixture here back in January and a repeat of that is 17/10 with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is 9/4 with Paddy Power and an away win is 18/11 with Unibet. We expect goals in this one, but with the away side running out winners.

Recommended bet: Fleetwood Town to win 3-1 at 21/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Plymouth Argyle vs Sunderland

Derek Adams’ Plymouth take on Jack Ross’ Sunderland for the first time in over ten years and the first ever meeting in the third division on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are in some good form and will be looking to continue their resurgence with the likes of Freddie Ladapo looking to contribute heavily. Sunderland are also in fine form and a win here could even get them into the top two with a game in hand on the rest of the division. The hosts to win is a big 3/1 with Bet 365, whilst the draw is 13/5 and the away win is a favoured 6/7 with the same bookmaker. However, we are backing the in-form Chris Maguire to score his third goal in as many games after he continued to impress last time out.

Recommended bet: Chris Maguire to score first at 13/2 with Bet 365 – BET HERE

Rochdale vs Luton Town

Spotland Stadium is the host of an important match between Rochdale and Luton on Saturday afternoon as two sides look to win the game for different reasons. The away side have been fantastic and have won three-straight games which has left them in the playoff places, whilst Dale are continuing the trend of inconsistency and need a win here to avoid slipping down the table. Both sides come into the game off the back of good wins and the hosts to win is 21/10 with William Hill, whilst the away win is 6/5 with Unibet. Despite the difference in league position, Rochdale have looked impressive in patches at home this term and we think that could be the case again this week and we are backing a stalemate here.

Recommended bet: Match to be drawn at 5/2 with William Hill – BET HERE

Two up, Two down

Scunthorpe United vs Oxford United

It’s the battle of the two United’s at Glanford Park this weekend as Scunthorpe take on Oxford in the third tier. Both sides have seen their season slip away before them and despite a horrendous losing streak, Scunthorpe still sit four places above their opposition, whilst Oxford are in the relegation zone. However, the away side are in fine form and have pulled their season around. The hosts to win for the first time in six matches is 17/10 with Bet 365, whilst the draw is 12/5 with the same bookmaker. However, we are backing the impressive Oxford to continue their good form with a win on the road.

Recommended bet: Oxford United to win at 8/5 with Unibet – BET HERE

Walsall vs Burton Albion

Walsall take on Burton at the Bescot Stadium this weekend as two sides on the hunt for promotion meet for the first time in the league for almost three years. They did meet earlier this season in the Checkatrade Trophy and the in-form Walsall beat Burton 2-1 in a tight match in the reverse fixture. The away side will be looking for redemption though and after a 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest to get into the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup in midweek, confidence will be high. A win for the away side is an attractive 11/5 with Bet 365, whilst the draw is 9/4 with Paddy Power, but we think Walsall could just edge this one again.

Recommended bet: Walsall to win 1-0 at 7/1 with William Hill – BET HERE

Wycombe Wanderers vs Peterborough United

Two of the frenetic and high-scoring sides from League One meet at Adams Park on Saturday as promotion hopefuls Peterborough travel to face Wycombe Wanderers, who have impressed in patches this term after their promotion to the division. The hosts are renowned for being in high-scoring matches, whilst United have caught the eye too – scoring the most goals in the league this year and currently sitting second. The home win here is 13/8 with Betfair and that could be a good bet considering the amount of time Steve Evans’ side have struggled away from home in large patches, whilst the draw is 13/5 with Betway. However, we do expect class to prevail with an away win here.

Recommended bet: Peterborough United to win 3-2 at 21/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE
