League One Round-Up: 19/01/2019

AFC Wimbledon vs Barnsley

Kingsmeadow in the capital is the host of an important match between AFC Wimbledon and Barnsley as the bottom of the table hosts look to end a run of three matches without a win against the side who are pushing for a spot in the automatic playoffs and have not lost since the early stages of December. The hosts drew 1-1 with Coventry last time out, whilst the visiting side hammered Bradford 3-0 on home soil – and two decent results for both teams should make for a better game than their 0-0 draw at Oakwell from back in August. The hosts are a huge 33/10 with Unibet, whilst the draw is 12/5 with William Hill and the visitors are an attractive 10/11 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 12/11 with William Hill – BET HERE

Blackpool vs Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury travel to Blackpool off the back of their fantastic comeback win in the FA Cup against Championship side Stoke this weekend and as much as the result was a fantastic one, they face a tough match ahead of them against ninth place opposition. Blackpool won their last match 1-0 against the impressive league leaders Portsmouth and confidence will be running through their squad ahead of this match. Shrewsbury lost their last league match 3-0 at home to Charlton, but their last away match against Sunderland ended in an impressive 1-1 draw. The hosts are the slight favourites at 13/10 with Betfair, whilst the draw is 9/4 with Bet365 and the visitors can be priced at 21/10 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Both teams to score @ evens with Unibet – BET HERE

Bradford vs Southend

Bradford play Southend at Valley Parade on Saturday as two inconsistent sides battle it out for an all-important three points. The hosts are still in the bottom four, but two wins in three has significantly bridged the gap between them and 20th and safety could be a real possibility if they manage to pick up their ninth win of the season here. Southend’s inconsistencies have left them 12th in the division and in somewhat of a stale position after 27 matches. However, a win to get them back on track could see them as high as ninth if results go their way and that’ll certainly be the aim here. The hosts are priced at 13/10 with Bet365 to win here, whilst the draw is 5/2 with Bet Victor and the visitors are an attractive 21/11 with Unibet.

Recommended bet: Southend double chance @ 3/5 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Bristol Rovers vs Wycombe

Bristol Rovers welcome Wycombe to the Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the 20th place hosts look to convert their chances in order to move away from the dreaded bottom four. However, that certainly will not be easy against a side coming off the back of a 3-2 win against Doncaster last time out and Wycombe will be more than confident of picking up the three points which could potentially see them move as high as ninth in the division if results elsewhere were to go their way. The hosts are priced at evens with Betway, whilst the draw is 23/10 with William Hill and the visitors are the 13/5 outsiders with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Match to be drawn @ 5/2 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Charlton vs Accrington

The Valley is the host of an important match in League One on Saturday afternoon as Charlton square off against Accrington for the second time this season in round 29 of the season’s fixtures. The match was drawn 1-1 at the Crown Ground back in August, but the hosts are the side who are currently better off and ahead of this game they sit fourth in the division – just seven points off the top of the league. Accrington continue to fall down the table and two losses from three and no win since boxing day is somewhat worrying for their fans. The hosts are the favourites here at 10/11 with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is 5/2 with Unibet and the visitors are the 3/1 underdogs with Betway.

Recommended bet: Charlton to win and BTTS @ 3/1 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Doncaster vs Burton

Doncaster square off against Burton in round 29 of the third-tier season on Saturday afternoon as two sides aspiring for a place in the top-six go head-to-head. The hosts are in seventh and despite winning back-to-back games before last weekend, a 3-2 loss away to Wycombe might’ve hindered their progression. Burton hammered Rochdale 4-0 away from home in their last League One match on the road, but a 9-0 loss away to Manchester City in the EFL Cup and a 3-2 home loss against Gillingham last weekend will certainly have put a dent in their confidence. The hosts are evens to win here with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is 13/5 with Bet365 and the visitors can be priced at a big 27/10 with Betfair.

Recommended bet: Doncaster to win 2-1 @ 7/1 with Betfair – BET HERE

Gillingham vs Walsall

League One action returns to Priestfield Stadium this weekend as Gillingham take on Walsall in arguably one of the most important matches in the 29th round of action. The 16th place visitors are one point and one place ahead of their opponents, but it’s Gillingham who come into this match in the better form having beaten Burton 3-2 at the Pirelli Stadium last weekend. The hosts are the 7/5 favourites here with William Hill, whilst the draw is 23/10 with Betfair and the visitors are the slight outsiders at 19/10 with Bet365.

Recommended bet: Walsall double chance @ 1/2 with Unibet – BET HERE

Luton vs Peterborough

Luton take on Peterborough in what could be the tie of the League One weekend as the second-place hosts take on the sixth-place visitors at Kenilworth Road. Luton head into this match off the back of a hard-fought draw with third-place Sunderland, whilst Peterborough managed to edge past Rochdale with a 2-1 win on home soil to get them back in the playoff spots. A win for either side could be vital in their chase for promotion and the bookmakers have the hosts as the favourites here. They can be found at 8/11 with William Hill to win, whilst the draw is 3/1 with Betway and the visitors are a big price of 4/1 with Bet365 to win here.

Recommended bet: Peterborough +1 handicap @ 11/10 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Oxford United vs Portsmouth

League One leaders and title favourites Portsmouth head to Oxford’s Kassam Stadium in search of not only three points, but also a big reply after losing 1-0 to Blackpool on home soil last time out. The Fratton Park faithful were shocked by that result and they’ll be hoping that loss was just somewhat of a blip. Oxford are also in desperate need of three points here as they sit 21st in the table on 27 points having lost three of their last four. Portsmouth won the reverse tie 4-1 and they are 5/4 favourites with Bet Victor to do the double over their opponents – whilst the draw is 9/4 with William Hill and the hosts are the 21/10 outsiders with Betfair.

Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals @ 3/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Plymouth vs Coventry

Six goals in two matches and back-to-back wins over Oxford and Southend has Plymouth in fine form, but they’ll be looking to make it three-straight wins here against a Coventry side who are in pursuit of a win to avoid slumping to their third consecutive match without three points. The teams met at the Ricoh Arena back in August and it was Coventry who won that game 1-0, but the sides have not met here since 2009 and both will be looking to get the edge. It’s the hosts who are the slight outsiders at 9/5 with Bet 365, whilst the visitors are 3/2 with William Hill and the draw is an attractive 12/5 with Unibet.

Recommended bet: Coventry double chance @ 4/9 with William Hill – BET HERE

Rochdale vs Fleetwood

Rochdale square off against Fleetwood at Spotland Stadium this weekend as 19th plays tenth in an important fixture for both of these sides. The hosts have lost four-straight matches in the league and any more losses could see them in the bottom four come close of play this weekend – whilst pre-season playoff hopefuls Fleetwood have drawn their last two, but no win since boxing day will have them desperate for maximum points in this one. The hosts are the surprising favourites here at 6/5 with Betfair, whilst the draw is 9/4 with William Hill and the visiting side are 23/10 with Unibet.

Recommended bet: Fleetwood to win 2-1 @ 10/1 with Betway – BET HERE

Scunthorpe vs Sunderland

The final match of the League One weekend will see Scunthorpe welcome former Premier League side and third-tier giants Sunderland to their home ground for the first time in recent history. The hosts lost their reverse tie with the Black Cats 3-0 back in August, but four-straight wins as of late gives them a completely different outlook here and the belief that they are more than good enough to defy the odds. The Wearside team have seen one too many draws blight their progress and ultimately their chances of getting into the top-two, but their third-place standing at the moment is still a great position and they could even find themselves in the automatic promotion spots with three points here. Sunderland are a fantastic price at evens with Bet Victor, whilst the draw is 5/2 with Unibet and the hosts are a big 3/1 with Bet365 on home turf.

Recommended bet: Sunderland score in both halves @ 21/10 with William Hill – BET HERE
