League One Round-Up: 30/03/2019

Doncaster Rovers vs Walsall

Doncaster Rovers welcome strugglers Walsall this weekend as they look to continue their promotion push. Rovers are now inside the play-offs and with a slender two-point advantage over nearest challenger Peterborough after hammering Bristol Rovers 4-1 last weekend. Walsall, meanwhile, are battling it out at the other end of the table, just like so many of the League One clubs in the bottom half. A heart-breaking last-minute defeat to promotion candidates Barnsley last weekend, one they didn’t deserve, left them in the bottom four goal difference from safety. Though, such is the nature of this division this season, a win here could take them up as far as 15th. Doncaster are favourites here at 5/7 with Black Type, while Walsall are a long 19/4 with Bet365. You can get a draw for 3/1 with Unibet.

Blackpool vs Plymouth Argyle

Blackpool welcome Plymouth to Bloomfield Road this weekend as they look to continue their late surge towards the play-offs. The Tangerines are beginning to gain real momentum, and that has been fuelled by the upturn in mood off the pitch. They come into this one off the back of a 4-1 win over  bottom club Bradford, leaving them just two places and four points off the play-offs. Meanwhile, Plymouth are in 14th, second in the relegation table, if you like. They are just four points above the drop zone, but ahead of most in this crazy battle for relegation in League One. They come into this one following a 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers last time out. Blackpool are strong favourites here at 21/20 with Black Type. Bet 365 and others are offering 3/1 on a Plymouth win, and 5/2 on a draw.

Recommended Bet: Blackpool to win 2-0 at 15/2 Bet365 – BET HERE

Charlton Athletic vs Bradford City

Charlton Athletic are really closing in on a play-off spot in League One, building up a nine-point buffer over Peterborough in seventh, and holding a game in-hand. It’s only a matter of time before they mathematically secure their spot in the post-season. The Addicks come into this one following a goalless draw with Bristol Rovers, but they didn’t play last weekend. Meanwhile Bradford were hammered 4-1 by Blackpool who compounded more misery on the Bantams. They now find themselves bottom of the table and six points from safety. Bradford have to start picking up form if they want any hope of making a great escape. Charlton are favourites here at a very slim 4/6 with Ladbrooks. You can get as much as 9/2 on a Bradford win with Bet365, and 11/4 on a draw.

Recommended Bet: Charlton -1 handicap at 2/1 Bet365 – BET HERE

Scunthorpe United vs AFC Wimbledon

A League One relegation six-pointer sees Scunthorpe United welcome AFC Wimbledon to Glanford Park this weekend. Scunthorpe currently sit just outside the relegation zone, in 18th place, just two points above the drop and five points above this weekend’s opponents, Wimbledon, who are currently in 23rd. The Iron come into this one having lost 3-1 on the road against Rochdale, while Wimbledon were beaten 4-2 at home by Gillingham. The Dons could climb tot he edge of safety with a win here, while Scunthorpe could leap up as far as 12th in the table. The home side are favourites at 13/10 with Bet365, while the Dons are at 9/4 with Marathon. 11/5 with Bet 365 may be a better avenue to explore in what should be a tight affair.

Recommended Bet: Draw at 11/4 Bet365 – BET HERE

Oxford United vs Wycombe Wanderers

Another two teams involved in this giant scrap for League One safety go head-to-head as Oxford United welcome Wycombe Wanderers. Neither of these two teams find themselves in immediate danger, but both are feeling the pressure heading down the final stretch. Oxford, in 13th, have the luxury of a four-point gap over the danger zone, but Wycombe are within two points, despite being as high as 16th in the table. Oxford come into this one on the back of a big 1-0 away win over Coventry, moving them clear of the bottom three for now, while Wycombe suffered a 2-1 defeat to Shrewsbury. Oxford are favourites here at 1s with Betway. A draw is at 12/5 with most bookmakers, while Sky Bet are offering 3/1 for an away win.

Recommended Bet: Draw and both teams to score at 4/1 BetVictor – BET HERE

Accrington Stanley vs Fleetwood Town

Accrington Stanley welcome Fleetwood Town this weekend as they continue their battle against the drop. Stanley currently sit tenuously in 17th and only two points above the drop zone. They head into this one off the back of a 5-2 defeat to Burton, despite taking a two-goal lead, so confidence will be low heading into this one. Fleetwood are in the top-half, bottom of the upper league, if you like, and the first team saftey after the bottom 13 teams. They are already beyond the 50-point threshold and unlikely to come into any sort of relegation trouble this season, especially given their points tally and a game in-hand. Fleetwood come into this one off the back of a 2-0 win over Plymouth. Despite being better placed in the table, Fleetwood are outsiders here at 19/10 with Sporting Life. Accrington are at 17/10 with Black Type, and a draw is 9/4 with Sky Bet among others.

Recommended Bet: Fleetwood to win at 19/10 BetVictor – BET HERE

Barnsley vs Coventry City

One of the most intriguing battles of the weekend sees automatic promotion-chasing Barnsley go up against a Coventry side still harbouring play-off hopes. Barnsley currently sit in second place and with a four point gap over third-placed Portsmouth, but it may be Sunderland who they need to worry about. They are five points ahead of the Black Cats, but they have played two games more – that will become three games this weekend. The Tykes need to keep winning to give themselves their best shot, and they did that last week thanks to a Jacob Brown goal in injury time against Walsall. Coventry, meanwhile suffered  a blow to their play-off hopes, losing 1-0 at home to Oxford. The Sky Blues are now ninth and four points outside the top six. Barnsley are a slim 8/11 here with Sky Bet, while Coventry are 4/1. A draw is at 13/5 with Bet365.

Recommended Bet: Barnsley to win by one at 13/5 Bet365 – BET HERE

Bristol Rovers vs Luton Town

Luton Town head to Bristol as they look to continue their charge towards the League One title and the Championship. The Hatters are now five clear of Barnsley at the top and four clear of Sunderland should they win their games in-hand. They also have a nine-point gap over Portsmouth, and already with 83 points, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to see how Luton won’t be playing Championship football next season. They come into this one having wrapped up a play-off spot, one they most likely won’t need, with a 4-0 win over Doncaster Rovers. Bristol Rovers, meanwhile, lost 4-1 to Doncaster in the week, leaving them 15th in the table, three points ahead of the dreaded drop zone. Luton are strong favourites here at 10/11 with Unibet. Rovers are a long-shot 13/4 with Ladbrooks, while a draw is priced at 13/5 with Bet365.

Recommended Bet: Luton -2 handicap at 7/1 Unibet – BET HERE

Southend United vs Shrewsbury Town

Another relegation six-pointer sees Southend United welcome Shrewsbury Town to Roots Hall this weekend. Southend come into this one fresh after sacking manager Chris Powell during the week. They lost 2-0 to Peterborough last weekend, leaving them one position and just goal difference above the drop zone, and that proved to be enough to pull the trigger on the boss. Shrewsbury, meanwhile, are only one point and one position better off heading into this one after losing to Portsmouth last time out. The loser here could well find themselves inside the bottom three. Southend are being tipped to be that team, they are outsiders at 9/5 with most. Shrewsbury are 17/10 with Unibet, while a draw is priced at 23/10 with Bet365.

Recommended Bet: Draw and both teams to score at 15/4 Bet365 – BET HERE

Gillingham vs Rochdale

Gillingham welcome Rochdale this weekend as they look to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Gillingham are arguable the last team in trouble, in 12th position, top of this extended relegation battle. Despite being in the top half, they find themselves just five points ahead of the drop, though, just three points off the 50-point mark, they should be safe with another three to five points. They can take a big step towards safety with a win here over a relegation rival, as they did last week with a 4-2 win over Wimbledon. Rochdale are 22nd, inside the drop zone and just one point from safety. They will need to fight for their lives to stay up, and they showed that fighting spirit last weekend when they beat Scunthorpe 3-1. Despite that, Gillingham are favourites here at 11/8 with Bet Victor. Rochdale are at 2/1 with a number of bookmakers, while Sky Bet are offering 23/10 for a draw.

Recommended Bet: Gillingham to win 2-1 at 17/2 SkyBet – BET HERE
