League One Round-Up: 24/11/2018

Coventry vs Peterborough

Coventry play Peterborough in this weekend’s League One opener on Friday night at the Ricoh Arena, as Mark Robins’ side look to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Burton last weekend with another win which would potentially push them into the playoffs. Steve Evans’ side have slipped down into fourth after two matches without a win against Wycombe and Bradford – two sides their fans would’ve been certain their side would’ve picked maximum points up against. A win for both sides would be huge here and it’s actually the hosts who head into this one as 6/5 favourites with William Hill. The draw is an attractive bet at 13/5 with Bet Victor and Peterborough can be back at a price of 2/1 with Bet365.

Recommended bet: Both teams to score @ 7/11 with Betway – BET HERE

AFC Wimbledon vs Southend

Third-tier action returns to Kingsmeadow this Saturday as AFC Wimbledon take on Southend in a big game for both teams. Wimbledon are slowly being cut adrift of their relegation rivals and eight-straight losses in the league has left them just one place above the foot of the table. Southend have also been in poor form recently, losing three games on the bounce and this week is a huge game as they visit Kingsmeadow for the second time this calendar year. The hosts are 18/11 with Unibet to win here after a horrific run of games, whilst a Southend win is 17/10 with William Hill and the draw is 12/5 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 2/3 with William Hill – BET HERE

Barnsley vs Doncaster

Oakwell is the host of a top-eight clash between Barnsley and Doncaster on Saturday afternoon as both teams look to build on their recent wins. The hosts beat Accrington 2-0 away from home in their last match, extending their winning run to three games. That win got Daniel Stendel’s side into the top three, but they play host to Doncaster – who also picked up an excellent win – beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in a hard fought match. Both teams will be confident of an all-important three points in this one, but it’s Barnsley who are the 4/5 favourites with Bet365. The draw is an attractive bet at 20/7 with Unibet, whilst a win for Doncaster is a big price at 10/3 with Betfair.

Recommended bet: Match to be drawn 2-2 @ 14/1 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Blackpool vs Burton

Blackpool play Burton in the first meeting between these two sides since 2016 on Saturday afternoon at Bloomfield Road. Both sides are two of the in-form sides in the division having won back-to-back fixtures, which should make for an interesting tie. Blackpool beat Southend 2-1 away from home in their last match, whilst Albion overcame Coventry 1-0. This one is a close match to predict, but Blackpool are the 13/10 favourites with Betway – whilst Burton are 21/10 to win here with William Hill and the draw is a big 23/10 with Bet365.

Recommended bet: Nathan Delfouneso to score first @ 5/1 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Bradford vs Oxford United

It’ll be a battle of the relegation candidates at Valley Parade this weekend as Bradford take on Oxford in an all-important clash. The hosts have been horrendous this term, losing 13 of their 18 matches played and with Oxford on a run of nine matches undefeated in all competitions, they face a tough task to pick up three points here. The sides last met just under one year ago and the corresponding tie ended with a terrific match for the neutral with a 3-2 win for the home team. However, recent form is the reason for Bradford being the 21/10 outsiders with William Hill, whilst the draw is 5/2 with the same bookmaker. Oxford come into this one as favourites after their recent form, but are still an attractive price at 13/10 with Unibet.

Recommended bet: Oxford United to win 3-1 @ 18/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Charlton vs Bristol Rovers

The Valley is the host of an important tie between two sides who need three points for contrasting reasons as Charlton and Bristol Rovers square off. Charlton are in sixth place after back-to-back wins in League One, whilst Rovers’ inconsistent campaign has left them in 21st position – but an all-important win here could get them out of the dreaded drop zone and as high as 18th if results elsewhere go their way. Athletic are 9/11 favourites with Unibet, whilst the draw is 27/10 with William Hill. Rovers are the obvious outsiders at 7/2 with Betway, but will be confident of winning after a 3-0 win away to Blackpool in their last match away from home in the league.

Recommended bet: Lyle Taylor to score first @ 7/2 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Gillingham vs Luton

League One action returns to Priestfield Stadium as Gillingham play Luton in another important tie in the league standings. Luton need a win to cement their place in the top six and after five games undefeated in the third-tier, their price of 4/5 with Betfair is evidence of their good form. The draw is 3/1 with Bet Victor, but Gillingham need a win in their return to their beloved ground to avoid potentially slipping into the bottom four in the table. Both sides will be desperate for a win, which should make for a cracking game.

Recommended bet: Luton to win 3-1 @ 13/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Plymouth Argyle vs Fleetwood

Plymouth will be desperate to bounce back from back-to-back defeats to the hands of Luton and Sunderland on their return to Home Park this weekend – but they face a tough task in doing so as they face a Fleetwood side who undoubtedly possess lots of quality – but are yet to show it consistently throughout this campaign. Joey Barton’s side did draw 0-0 with Walsall last time out, but will be hoping for a win in this one and are 8/5 to do so with William Hill. The draw is a bet we like at 23/10 with Bet365, whilst the home win for Plymouth is 17/10 with Betfair.

Recommended bet: Freddie Ladapo to score first @ 9/2 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Rochdale vs Accrington Stanley

Spotland Stadium is the host of Rochdale vs Accrington on Saturday as both sides need a win to end a run of games without three points. Visitors Stanley were in fine form up until the 14th game of the season, but last season’s League Two champions have dropped like a stone into tenth in the League One table. Rochdale need three points here to avoid being drawn ever closer to the dreaded drop zone and are 11/10 with Bet Victor to do so, whilst the visitors are 23/10 with the same bookmaker.

Recommended bet: Match to be drawn 1-1 @ 23/4 with Unibet – BET HERE

Scunthorpe vs Portsmouth

Two of the pre-season promotion candidates go head-to-head at Glanford Park this weekend as Scunthorpe take on Portsmouth. Both sides were tipped for a place in the top six, but after a quarter of the campaign only Pompey have lived up to their billing and currently sit top of the table. On the other hand, Scunthorpe are 17th in the table and are desperate need of a second-straight win to avoid being dragged towards the bottom four. Kenny Jackett’s Portsmouth are the obvious favourites at evens with Bet365 after losing just one match all season, whilst Scunthorpe are a big price at 13/5 with William Hill to pick up three points. The draw is 28/11 with Unibet, which was the result the last time these two teams met in January.

Recommended bet: Portsmouth to win 2-1 @ 8/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Walsall vs Sunderland

Walsall take on Sunderland at the Bescot Stadium in the first ever meeting between these two sides. The hosts have dropped off somewhat in League One and currently sit 11th after three games without a win. The hosts face a tough task in getting the win here against the former Premier League regulars, but Sunderland’s last match ended in an uninspiring 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers in their last game and they’ll be desperate to put that right in this week’s match. The hosts are 11/4 to win at Bet365, whilst the draw could be a good bet at 12/5 with William Hill. Sunderland sit second in the table after 17 matches and their price of evens with Betfair is evidence of their good campaign.

Recommended bet: Josh Maja to score first @4/1 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Wycombe Wanderers vs Shrewsbury

15th plays 16th in League One this weekend as Wycombe take on Shrewsbury at Adams Park. The hosts performed brilliantly last time out, but will be frustrated to have only come away from the Stadium of Light with a point against Sunderland. Shrewsbury have won back-to-back games against Rochdale and AFC Wimbledon and will be vying for a big three points here. The sides have not met for three years and the corresponding fixture back in 2015 ended in a 1-0 win for Wycombe. The hosts are 9/5 with Unibet to win here, whilst the draw is 23/10 with Bet Victor. A third-straight win for Shrewsbury is 17/10 with Betfair, which could fire the visitors as high as 12th in the table.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 6/5 with Unibet – BET HERE
