League One Round-Up: 20/10/2018

 Blackpool vs AFC Wimbledon

Blackpool return to Bloomfield Road in pursuit of continuing their unbeaten run, which could be stretched to 11 matches with a win over a struggling AFC Wimbledon on Saturday afternoon. Terry McPhillips’ side are priced at an attractive 12/11 with Unibet, whilst the draw is 23/10 with Betway. The away side currently sit one place outside of the dreaded drop zone by just one point and a win here, which is priced at 3/1 with Betway, is a must to ensure they don’t fall further down the table. The sides have met twice before, with a win for each side, but we predict the hosts to continue their good run with another victory here.

Recommended bet: Blackpool to win 2-0 at 17/2 with Paddy Power – BET HERE

Bradford City vs Rochdale

Valley Parade hosts another League One clash as Bradford welcome Rochdale to their home stadium. Both sides are in desperate need of a win, but the hosts more so as they sit in the bottom four. The travelling team sit in 16th and a win here could put distance between themselves and the relegation contenders, but they’ll have to forget their recent form, which has seen Dale go without a win in five matches. The hosts last won at the start of this month away from home against AFC Wimbledon, but back-to-back defeats has left them in a rut. The hosts are priced at 19/10 with Bet 365, whilst the away side are 11/8 with Bet Victor. We actually struggle to separate two struggling sides here and we are backing the draw, which can be found at 12/5 with Betway.

Recommended bet: Match to be drawn at 12/5 with Betway – BET HERE

Bristol Rovers vs Oxford United

Bristol Rovers return to the Memorial Ground to play Oxford United this Saturday as the hosts look to end a winless run which has now stretched to four games. Their last win came in a 3-1 home win over Coventry and their home patch is where they have looked most threatening this term, but they welcome a resurgent Oxford United who have gone unbeaten in two matches. United beat fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle last time out and a repeat win here is priced at 17/8 with Bet Victor. The draw is an attractive 23/10 between two sides in the drop zone, whilst a Bristol Rovers win is 13/10 with Betfair. We struggle to pick a winner here, but we do anticipate a low-scoring match, with under 2.5 goals within it.

Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals at 10/11 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Charlton Athletic vs Barnsley

The Valley hosts an intriguing tie between Charlton Athletic and Barnsley this weekend, which were two of the promotion contenders in the third-tier prior to the season commencing. The hosts have shown glimpses of potential promotion candidates, but five wins and four losses from 12 matches has left them in 11th. However, in contrast to that, Barnsley are sitting pretty in third, with a game in hand on the top two and a healthy five points off the top. A win here for the away side would make it three straight wins and that can be found at 6/5 with William Hill. The hosts to win can be priced at 9/4 with Paddy Power, whilst the draw is 5/2 with Bet Victor. We predict a tight game in this one, but with the impressive Kieffer Moore to get his eighth of the season.

Recommended bet: Kieffer Moore to score at 5/4 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Doncaster Rovers vs Gillingham

The impressive Doncaster Rovers return to the Keepmoat Stadium to face an early relegation contender in Gillingham. The away side are in desperate need of a win and the game against an impressive side has probably come at the wrong time and fans of the Gills are half expecting their side to be in the drop zone this weekend. The hosts had hit somewhat of a bump in the road in the division, losing two of their last three matches, but a magnificent 3-2 win over Rochdale last time out was exactly what they needed. A win for Rovers could see them into second if results went their way and that is priced at 8/11 with William Hill, whilst the draw is 11/4 with Paddy Power. An away win is unlikely and that is representative in the big 19/5 with Bet Victor. We predict a home win, but with both teams to also score.

Recommended bet: Doncaster to win and BTTS at 11/4 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Luton Town vs Walsall

Kenilworth Road will host an intriguing tie between Luton Town and Walsall on Saturday afternoon, as two sides in hot pursuit of the playoff spots go to battle in London. Nathan Jones’ side, priced at 7/11 with Betfair, had been in good form prior to a recent 3-2 narrow loss to Barnsley last weekend. Luton had in fact put together a winning run of three in all competitions and they’ll be looking for more of the same this week. However, they face a Walsall side in fine form and in touching distance of the top six and a tidy 1-0 win away to Bristol Rovers last time out makes them an attractive 17/4 shot with Bet365 here. The draw is priced at 31/10 with Unibet, but we actually predict the away side to run out narrow winners in their second consecutive win on the road.

Recommended bet: Walsall to win at 17/4 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Two up, Two down

Peterborough vs Accrington Stanley

Two of League One’s top six go head-to-head in one of the ties of the weekend in the English Football League, as Steve Evans’ Peterborough United welcome John Coleman’s Accrington Stanley to the ABAX Stadium. Both sides come into the game off the back of wins, with United achieving a huge win away from home against Scunthorpe and Stanley hammering Bristol Rovers. The home side are second in the league and a win will be important here to stay in the top two with promotion contenders breathing down their neck. A seventh win of the season for Accrington would also be huge and could be one that sees them into third. A home win is priced at 6/5 with William Hill, whilst the draw is 13/5 with Betfair and an away win is an attractive 23/10 with Unibet. We predict goals galore in this one between two sides intent on attacking football.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals at 4/7 with Paddy Power – BET HERE

Plymouth Argyle vs Burton Albion

Bottom of the table Plymouth Argyle return home to Home Park in pursuit of an all-important win against Burton Albion to ensure they aren’t cut adrift from the rest of the relegation contenders. Derek Adams’ side have won just once this season, with that win coming on home soil against AFC Wimbledon one game prior to their last. A repeat result here is 21/10 with Bet 365, whilst a draw is 9/4 with Unibet. The away side have been slightly better this term, but Nigel Clough’s side are desperate for a win to propel them up the table. The away side do still have a game in hand on their opposition, which could stand them in good stead if they get a win here, which is priced at 13/10 with William Hill. We like the away side to add more pain to Adams’ side and we are backing an important win for Albion.

Recommended bet: Burton Albion to win 3-1 at 19/1 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Portsmouth vs Fleetwood Town

Table toppers Portsmouth return to Fratton Park to take on a resurgent Fleetwood Town as Kenny Jackett’s side look to beat Joey Barton’s men to put distance between themselves and the playoff teams. The travelling Cod Army had been dismal after a good start, but three games unbeaten and back-to-back wins has left them in eighth, just three points outside of the all-important playoff spots. A tenth home win of the season for Pompey is priced at 3/4 with William Hill, whilst the draw is 5/2 with Paddy Power and a third-straight win for Fleetwood is priced at 17/4 with Bet 365. We predict the hosts to win, but with both teams to also score.

Recommended bet: Portsmouth win and BTTS at 3/1 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Shrewsbury Town vs Sunderland

Greenhous Meadow hosts an intriguing clash between Shrewsbury Town and Sunderland as John Askey and Jack Ross’s side meet for only the second time in their history. The travelling side are in fine form and are now unbeaten in four League One matches, with talisman Josh Maja looking to continue to top the scoring charts. The Blues lost last time out against Fleetwood Town, but prior to that they were on a four-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, with an impressive 6-0 win in the Checkatrade Trophy against Tranmere the latest win. We predict a good game here in a game which is perhaps going under the radar, with Sunderland to win, which is priced at an attractive 18/11 with Unibet. The hosts can be found as high as 17/10 with Bet 365, whilst a draw between two sides who have accumulated 11 draws between them is 21/10 with William Hill.

Recommended bet: Sunderland to win 3-1 at 25/1 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Southend United vs Coventry City

Roots Hall is the host of another League One match, as two in-form sides in Southend United and Coventry City go to battle to cement a place in the top ten. A win for the home side, which is priced at 11.10 with Paddy Power, could see United into the playoffs, which would be a huge achievement after 14 matches. The away team are also in fine form and have won their last three in all competitions and a win here could see them into the top eight, which is priced at a tidy 23/10 with Bet Victor. The game we predict to be a tight one and the draw can be found at 12/5 with William Hill, but we are backing over 2.5 goals in this tie.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals at 10/11 with SkyBet – BET HERE

Wycombe Wanderers vs Scunthorpe United

An intriguing tie between hosts Wycombe Wanderers and Scunthorpe United will take place at Adams Park in High Wycombe on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently struggling in 18th and only their third win of the campaign can be found at a price of 5/4 with William Hill. The draw is 13/5 with Bet Victor, whilst the away side are priced at 23/10 with Bet 365 to win the match. Scunthorpe have yet another tough task ahead of them this week and they’ll need to be at their best against a tough Wycombe. Big man Adebayo Akinfenwa got his 100th career goal in midweek and we are back the talisman to continue his good scoring form with another goal this weekend.

Recommended bet: Adebayo Akinfenwa to score at 6/4 with Bet365 – BET HERE
