Notts County vs Oldham

Two teams in disappointing form meet on Tuesday night as Notts County welcome Oldham Athletic to the East Midlands. The home side head into this one on the back of a 2-2 away draw with Port Vale. County thought they had stolen all three points when Elliot Ward scored with just three minutes remaining, but Tom Pope struck one minute from time to secure a share of the spoils for Vale. That result follows a run of three straight league defeats for the Magpies, leaving them in 22nd place after 16 games, just two points above the dotted line. Oldham are struggling to get to grips with League Two following relegation and they sit in 17th place, seven points above their mid-week rivals. Last time out, Oldham were beaten by Stevenage, losing 3-2 after conceding with less than 10 minutes remaining. That made it consecutive defeats in the league for Oldham after losing to Northampton during the previous weekend. Oldham are favourites here at 13/8 with Bet365, while Notts County are at 9/5. A draw is at 5/2 and that may well be the most likely outcome between these two out of form teams here.

Mansfield vs Grimsby

Play-off chasing Mansfield Town host strugglers Grimsby in the other League Two fixture on Tuesday evening. Mansfield are on the edge of the play-offs, sitting just three points from the top seven with this game in-hand to play. The Stags will see this as a perfect opportunity to move into the play-offs on goal difference with a win. Last time out, Mansfield had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Cheltenham, but it felt like a win when Tyler Walker scored his second and the equaliser in the 93rd minute. That late goal meant Mansfield extended their nine-game unbeaten run in the league, dating back to the middle of September. The Stags need to win games like this one if they want to finish in the play-offs this season. Grimsby have no such ambitions after suffering a poor start to the season. Town have amassed just 15 points from 16 games, leaving them only two points above the relegation zone. Last time out, Grimsby continued their bad run of form with defeat to Cambridge. That result made it two defeats on the bounce after losing to Crewe the previous week. Town have scored just one goal in their last five outings in all competitions. With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see Mansfield installed as favourites at 4/7 with Sky Bet. Grimsby are priced at 5/1 with a win with a draw more likely at 3/1.
