League Two Round-Up: 12/01/2019

Bury vs MK Dons

Gigg Lane is the host of the 28th fixture of the League Two season on Saturday afternoon as Bury welcome MK Dons to their home ground in what is no doubt the game of the season in this division. Bury sit in third on 46 points and MK Dons are one place and one point ahead – and both will be only satisfied with three points here in order to keep up with table toppers Lincoln, whilst also cementing their spot in the automatic promotion spots. The hosts are the 7/5 favourites with Unibet, whilst the draw is 9/4 with William Hill and MK Dons are an attractive outsider at 2/1 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11 with William Hill – BET HERE

Cheltenham vs Tranmere

Tranmere travel to Whaddon Road to take on what seemed to be a resurgent Cheltenham side prior to their recent loss to Crawley last weekend and both sides need the victory for contrasting reasons. The hosts want three points to avoid slipping back down towards the dreaded drop zone which they worked so hard to get away from – whilst the visitors are just four points outside of the playoffs and they’ll be looking to make it four matches undefeated with their 11th with of the campaign. The away side are the 3/2 favourites with Betway, whilst the draw is 23/10 with Bet Victor and the hosts are 7/4 with Unibet.

Recommended bet: Both teams to score @ 8/11 with Betway – BET HERE

Crewe vs Newport County

Crewe square off against Newport on Saturday afternoon in yet another important fixture in the fourth-tier as 16th take on 13th. Just four points separate these sides, but it’s actually the 16th-place-hosts who have been the better side as of late having lost just once In four – whilst Newport are struggling in the league, but they’ll be keen on using what was a fantastic 2-1 win against Premier League Leicester in the FA Cup third-round last weekend to boost confidence for their important league campaign. The hosts are 16/11 to win here with Unibet, whilst the draw is 12/5 and the visitors are an attractive 2/1 – both with Bet365.

Recommended bet: Newport County double chance @ 1/2 with Unibet – BET HERE

Exeter vs Morecambe

St James Park is the host of Exeter vs Morecambe on Saturday afternoon as these two sides meet for the second time this campaign. The hosts won the last match in the reverse fixture 2-0 and having been on a good run as of late, they’ve managed to get themselves back into the playoff spots which they had occupied for the opening few months of the season. However, Morecambe will prove no push-over here and after showing great fight and resolve against Crewe last weekend – they’ll be desperate for three points to lift them away from their 20th position. The hosts are an attractive 8/11 favourite here with Betfair, whilst the draw is 14/5 with Bet365 and the visitors are a big price of 18/5 with William Hill.

Recommended bet: Exeter to win 2-0 @ 8/1 with Bet Victor – BET HERE

Grimsby vs Macclesfield

Grimsby face Macclesfield at Blundell Park on Saturday as 14th take on 23rd in an important match in Cleethorpes. The hosts were in fine form prior to their frustrating 1-0 home loss to Mansfield and they’ll be desperate to recapture their form – whilst Macclesfield are desperate for only their sixth win of the season to give them a chance of moving out of the dreaded drop zone into 22nd if results go their way. Grimsby won the reverse fixture 2-0 back in August and they are the 8/7 favourites with Unibet to do so again here, whilst the draw is 11/5 with Betway and the visitors are 5/2 with William Hill.

Recommended bet: Grimsby to win and btts @ 7/2 with Sky Bet – BET HERE

Mansfield vs Yeovil

The impressive Mansfield return to their beloved Field Mill this weekend to square off against struggling side Yeovil as both sides look to bounce back from their respective losses in their 2019 openers. The hosts are in fourth having won 11 of their matches and just two losses is evidence of their solidarity. 22nd place Yeovil will be hoping to make it three losses for the hosts here with only their sixth win of the season, but two-straight losses suggests they aren’t exactly prepared in terms of confidence to go and shock the hosts in this one. Mansfield are the expected 1/2 favourites with Bet Victor, whilst the underdogs are exactly that at 7/1 with Betfair and the draw is 3/1 with Bet365.

Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals @ 2/1 with Betfair – BET HERE

Northampton vs Carlisle

Number one in the form table having won their last five games, Carlisle travel south to the Sixfields Stadium to take on a Northampton side struggling for confidence in 17th having had a season blighted by one to many draws. The hosts have accumulated 12 draws this campaign – the most in the division – and they’ll be desperate to pick up a big win which could see them into 15th. However, the away side have their sights set on the automatic promotion spots this week – especially with two of the top three playing each other – and they’ll not be letting up. Carlisle are a very attractive price at 21/10 with Bet365, whilst the draw is 23/10 with Bet Victor and the home win is 13/10 with William Hill.

Recommended bet: Match to be drawn @ 9/4 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Notts County vs Cambridge United

Notts County host Cambridge at Meadow Lane on Saturday afternoon as one of the biggest games in this weekend’s fixture list is set to get underway. The hosts are rock bottom having won just four games all campaign, but a win here could see them out of the relegation zone and into 22nd if Yeovil fail to pick up points in their tie. However, Cambridge picked up only their seventh win of the season in their last match against Stevenage and another three points would certainly put breathing space between them and the bottom two. Cambridge won the reverse fixture 3-2 in August and the visitors are 13/8 with Bet365 to do the double over their opponents, whilst the draw is 12/5 with Bet Victor and the hosts are 8/5 to win with William Hill.

Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals @ 4/5 with Unibet – BET HERE

Oldham vs Forest Green

Tenth plays sixth at Boundary Park on Saturday afternoon as two of the in-form sides in the league clash in what could be a very good tie to watch for the neutral. The hosts have won their last two, beating both Port Vale and Notts County and a win here certainly gets them back into the playoff mix. However, Forest Green are renowned for being hard to beat and that is evident in their four losses from 25 matches this season. The visitors are also the form side here and they sit just one spot behind Carlisle at the top of the league in terms of their last five matches. Home side Oldham are 6/5 to win with Betway, whilst the draw is 9/4 with William Hill and the away side are an attractive 17/8 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Forest Green to win 2-1 @ 21/2 with Bet Victor – BET HERE

Port Vale vs Colchester

Vale Park is the host of round 28 fourth-tier action this weekend as Colchester travel south to take on a struggling Port Vale. The hosts haven’t won a league match since the first game of November and in order to progress, they’ll need the three points here. Having drawn 1-1 with Lincoln in their last league match though they’ll certainly be confident and with the visitors without a win in their last four – they also need the maximum points to ensure they keep within touching distance of their playoff goal. The hosts are the 11/5 outsiders with Unibet, whilst the draw is 9/4 with Betfair and the visitors are 11/8 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: Both teams to score @ 6/7 with William Hill – BET HERE

Stevenage vs Crawley

Stevenage take on Crawley at Broadhall Way on Saturday afternoon as 11th take on 15th in League Two. The hosts might be five points and four places better off than their opponents, but two losses from three matches is evidence of the inconsistency they have been blighted by this campaign. Crawley on the other hand are unbeaten in three and having won their last two, they’ll be confident of picking up maximum points to get themselves into mid-table having played 27 matches. The hosts are 13/10 with William Hill, whilst the draw is 23/10 with Unibet and the visitors are 2/1 with Betvictor – which is a bet we like the look of.

Recommended bet: Crawley double chance @ 4/7 with Betway – BET HERE

Swindon vs Lincoln

The final match in the League Two footballing weekend comes from the County Ground on Saturday afternoon as league leaders Lincoln travel to Swindon in pursuit of their 16th win of the season and one which would arguably be their most important if they can achieve it. The visitors have a chance of extending their gap at the top with the two sides below them in the table set to play each other, but the Robins will be adamant they can make Lincoln miss out on that chance – especially after they beat Macclesfield 2-1 on the road in their 2019 opener. Lincoln won the reverse tie back in August with a convincing 4-1 win, whilst they also won the corresponding tie back in 2017 with a 1-0 win. Lincoln are an attractive 11/8 to do the double over their opponents, whilst the hosts are 2/1 to win with William Hill and the draw can be found at 23/10 with Bet Victor.

Recommended bet: John Akinde to score first @ 11/2 with Betfred – BET HERE
