Levante vs Barcelona

Levante have the daunting task of taking on Barcelona approaching, as the two sides come together in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 this Thursday. The first leg will be played at Estadi Ciutat de València giving Levante a well-needed home advantage, Paco López will be hoping he can take a positive result to the Nou Camp in the following week. Ernesto Valverde will be planning on claiming his side’s 31st Copa del Rey title and securing it for the fifth consecutive time. As expected, Barca top La Liga after 18 games and currently hold a five-point lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid.

With Barcelona as their opponents, Levante knows the odds will be stacked against them and they will be preparing for a seriously tough game. The hosts are having a decent season in La Liga as they find themselves in tenth place after 18 games and due to a congested table, a single win can see them move up into sixth place. Paco Lopez would have hoped to enter this fixture in better form as they have gone four games without a win, suffering two defeats along the way. If you are feeling confident in Levante’s abilities and fancy them causing an upset then Skybet has the underdogs to win at 15/2.

Levante have proven to be a strong side going forward and with 30 goals scored this season they are the fourth highest scoring side, but their leaky defence which has conceded 34 goals has held them back. Four of Levante’s last five fixtures have seen over 3.5 goals scored and Bet365 are offering there to be over 3.5 goals at a price of 8/11. If the hosts are to see any success on Thursday then they will need a strong performance from their top goalscorer Roger Martí who has bagged eight goals this season. Bet365 have the forward to score anytime priced at 15/8.

The Catalan giants will be hoping for a repeat result against their opponents that they secured in December which saw them ease to a 5-0 victory in a league fixture, SkyBet has a repeat result priced at 18/1. After a wobbly start from Barca, they now sit comfortably at the top of the league with a five-point lead over second place and with them taking seven wins from their last nine games they have some good momentum. With such small odds to win you might want to go for a -1 handicap which is priced at 8/11 with SkyBet.

As usual, Barcelona have excelled with their attacking football and with 50 goals scored they are by far the highest scoring side in the league. Lionel Messi has 16 goals this season and bagged a 17-minute hattrick against Levante in December, Bet365 has him to score 3+ goals priced at 9/2. Barca have kept three clean sheets over the last five games and SkyBet has them to keep another priced at 29/20.
