Manchester City vs Manchester United Betting Preview – 11/11/2018

Manchester City vs Manchester United

This weekend’s Premier League action ends with an absolute cracker as Manchester City welcome fierce rivals Manchester United for the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Both teams head into the derby on the back of fine wins in the Champions League during the week. Nine point separates the two rivals in the league with City top of the pile and United down in 7th. That’s a gap Jose Mourinho’s men will be desperate to close with a win this weekend.

Manchester City have picked up from where they left off last season, topping the league and unbeaten after 11 games. This season, however, City do have title challengers hot on their tails with Chelsea and Liverpool both within two points of the champions. It looks as though it’s going to be an exciting title race this season, but Guardiola’s men will still fancy themselves to come out on top.

City come into this one on the back of a 6-0 thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk last time out, a result that was somewhat marred by the penalty given to Raheem Sterling. The England winger has drawn critics for not admitting his trip to the referee who thought he was tripped. That aside, it was the perfect evening for City who moved three points clear at the top of the group. The win also made it 12 goals in two games after beating Southampton 6-1 in their last league outing.

Sergio Aguero again leads the scoring for City with seven league goals in 11 outings. The Argentinian is 3/1 with Sky Bet to open the scoring in this weekend’s derby. Raheem Sterling has been in electric form this season, scoring six goals and he may be worth backing at 6/5 with William Hill to score at any time. City have scored 33 times in 11 games this season, that’s an average of three per game. They are 6/5 with Bet Victor to maintain that record with another three here.

Manchester United make the short trip across the city on the back of a superb Champions League win over Juventus during the week. A late Leo Bonucci own goal handed United the comeback win after Juan Mata’s equaliser to keep them in second in the group, now two points behind the leaders. Last time out in the league, Mourinho’s men beat Bournemouth 2-1 away from home, making it three wins on the bounce in all competitions. Despite that, United are nine points behind their city rivals and four points off the top four after 11 games.

Anthony Martial is United’s leading scorer this season with five league goals in eight appearances. The Frenchman is 7/2 with Marathon to score at any time. Alexis Sanchez has only managed one so far and he’s at 4/1 to score this weekend. Lukaku is 16/5 with Betway to add to his disappointing four-goal tally.

At home and in scintillating form, Man City are favourites to win at 7/17 with Unibet. United are as long as 8/1 to become the first victors against City in the league this season with Bet Victor. Sky Bet are offering 4/1 on a draw. A City win and both teams to score could be worth backing at 13/8 with Bet365.
