Manchester United vs Bournemouth

A resurgent Manchester United will put their new-found confidence to the test again this weekend as they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford. United are fixed on closing the gap on Arsenal in fifth, but they are still a fair way away from breaking into that top five. Bournemouth head to Manchester struggling for form but still in the battle for a European spot. Manchester United are favourites here.

Manchester United seem to have found their rhythm again since the departure of Jose Mourinho and the arrival of caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian seems to have given the team their confidence back and it has showed on the pitch in two comfortable wins. First, United beat Cardiff 5-1 away from home, and they made it back-to-back wins on Boxing day with a 3-1 win over another struggling team in Huddersfield Town. This weekend is likely to be a sterner test, but they do remain favourites with the home side 7/19 to win with Unibet.

Anthony Martial leads the Old Trafford scoring charts this season with eight goals to his name and he’s at 17/4 with Black Type to open the scoring here. Romelu Lukaku has scored six this season and he’s 11/10 to score with Sky Bet, while Paul Pogba is 13/8 with Unibet to add to his five-goal total, one which he added to last time out. United have won both of their last two by two goals or more, so it may be worth boosting their slim winning odds with a handicap. A one-goal handicap will get you 1s at Betfair, while a two-goal handicap is at 5/2 with the same bookmaker.

Bournemouth come into this one following a torrid run of form which has seen them win only two of their last nine league games. They come into this one having lost again last time out, slipping to a 5-0 thrashing against Tottenham away from home. Before that, they did manage to beat Brighton 2-0, but that result came after three straight wins in all competitions. Bournemouth are still in the race for European football, but they now find themselves in 12th, two points off Leicester in seventh and six points behind this weekend’s rivals Manchester United in sixth. Bournemouth are a long 17/2 to win with Betfair.

Callum Wilson has been one of Bournemouth’s star men this season with eight goals to his name, and he’s at 3/1 with Betway to add to that here. David Brooks has impressed out wide this season, he has five goals his season and he’s at 23/4 with Unibet to score at Old Trafford. Joshua King has had a knack of scoring against big clubs since arriving on the South Coast and he’s at 21/5 with Unibet to add to his five goals with another here. Bournemouth have failed to score in four of their last five games, so it may be worth backing a United win to nil here at 6/4 with Bet Victor.
