Portugal vs Poland

Tuesday evening UEFA Nations League action comes from Guimaraes as Portugal take on Poland at the Afonso Henriques Stadium in Group 3, League A. The hosts have already won the group after two wins and a draw, whereas Poland are simply playing for pride in the final match in this year’s Nations League group phase. The head-to-head statistics favour the Portuguese, with the hosts have won the last two fixtures, one of which came last time out in the reverse fixture in the same competition.

Fernando Santos’ Portugal head into their second match against Poland in the Nations League having already won the group after three games unbeaten. The reigning European Champions won their first two matches and drew their last, with one of those wins coming against Tuesday night’s opposition. A repeat of that result is short odds of 5/8 with Bet Victor, whilst the draw here is attractive odds of 3/1 with Bet365. Two of Portugal’s last three matches have included at least four goals and over 3.5 goals is a bet we like here at 5/2 with William Hill. However, a more convincing bet of over 2.5 goals is a bet which could be more attractive at good odds of 12/11 with Unibet. Portugal showed a different side to their style of play in their last match on Saturday away to Italy and despite not finding the back of the net, they did keep a clean-sheet with little complications and that bet is odds of evens, whilst a win to nil is 6/4 – both of which are priced with Sky Bet.

The players spearheading the Portugal attacks have been Andre Silva, who bagged a goal in his team’s last home win against Italy in September and also netted in the reverse tie against Poland last time these two sides met. The Sevilla striker is 3/1 to score first here and 6/5 to score in 90 minutes – both odds being with Sky Bet. Other threatening players in the Portugal side lie in the form of Antonio Eder, who bagged the winner in Portugal’s European Championship final against France back in 2016 and Manuel Goncalo Guedes – who is a young up and coming prospect currently applying his trade with French giants PSG. Eder to score anytime here is 7/4, whilst Guedes to score first is 9/2 – both with Bet365.

Poland have been struggling in their Nations League campaign up to now and already find themselves relegated from Group 3 after three matches. Two losses and a draw in this competition is the reason for the visiting side’s position in the group, but one positive for Jerzy Brzęczek’s team is their free-scoring style of play – having bagged three goals in the competition. The Polish to score at least two goals in this one is odds of 4/1, whilst the visitors to score one goal is 8/11 – both with Sky Bet. It’ll be important for the Poland side to pick up an all-important win here to avoid a fifth game without a win and that win is odds of 5/1 with Unibet.

The player who continues to be a threat in the Poland side no matter how his team are playing is the classy Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. However, with Lewandowski set to miss out on his countries trip to Portugal, it’ll be down to the impressive Jakub Blaszczykowski to do what he did in the last meeting between these two teams and to get on the scoresheet. The winger to score here is 9/2 and Blaszczykowski to score and Poland to win is 12/1 – both bets being with Sky Bet. Other players who pose a threat in the Poland side lie in the form of Arkadiusz Milik and Kamil Grosicki – who are 9/1 and 14/1 to score first here respectively with Bet365.
