Portugal vs Serbia Betting Preview – 25/03/2019

Portugal vs Serbia

Portugal and Serbia will go head to head on Monday as the hosts prepare for their second game of their Euro 2020 qualifiers, while the visitors will be taking part in their opening fixture of the qualifying campaign. The venue is set to be the Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica and kick off time is 7:45pm. Neither of these two won last time out, with the Euro 2016 winners playing out a stalemate versus Ukraine and Serbia drawing 1-1 with Germany. The pair last faced off in 2015 where it was goals from Nani and Joao Moutinho which took home the win for the away side on the day.

Portugal come into this one having not found victory in any of their last three matches, drawing each and scoring in just one of those encounters. Prior to this, they had won three games on the bounce and this current run of form was unforeseen, particularly with the strike force at the disposal of manager Fernando Santos. SkyBet have the result to be a draw at 13/5, while Bet365 have a stalemate at 14/5. Portugal topped their group in the UEFA Nations League and will be expected to do so in this one, with SkyBet offering ⅘ for them to finish at the summit of the standings.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the star man for Portugal and has been for over a decade now, however he put in a rather disappointing display against Ukraine in his countries first matchup of the group stage. Fans will be hoping for more from the five time Ballon d’Or winner, however they can ask for little better than what Raphael Guerreiro showed on the night as he was the standout individual for his side. SkyBet have under 2.5 goals at 4/6 and with Portugal’s last three meetings having less than 2.5 goals they don’t look likely to score more anytime soon.

Serbia are undefeated in their last seven games in all competitions, winning four and drawing three. They have kept two clean sheets in their last five games and SkyBet have them to win to nil at 8/1. Serbia have scored two or more goals in four of their past six outings and due to this SkyBet are offering 4/1 for them to repeat that same feat again. With the away side for this clash finishing top of their group in the UEFA Nations League, they will have the number one spot for the qualifiers in their sights too, though they are third favourites with SkyBet at 3/1.

The main man for Serbia for this qualifying campaign will undoubtedly be Luka Jovic as the 21-year-old has bagged fifteen goals for his club Eintracht Frankfurt, and having netted the opener in the draw versus Germany he will be confident that he can get on the scoresheet again in this one. His nation have conceded in each of their last three games and Bet365 have odds of 11/10 for both teams to score during this fixture, while also offering both teams to score and Serbia to win at 11/1.
