Premier League Betting Preview – 31/03/18

The International breaks over and the Premier League returns on Saturday and there’s still plenty to play for. The title is basically decided but the top 4 race and the relegation battle are heating up as the season enters its final stretch. Here’s our preview for this weekends Premier League fixtures.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool

Jurgen Klopps men travel down to Selhurst Park looking to keep the pressure on Manchester United in the hunt for second place and to confirm their Champions League place for next season. Its the start of a make or break week for the reds this season with the Champions League Quarter Final first leg against Manchester City in midweek and the Merseyside derby with Everton at Goodison Park next Sunday. It’s Liverpool’s last chance to win a first major trophy since 2012 this season is in the Champions League and Klopp will be desperate to carry some momentum into that tie with City on Wednesday. Last time out Liverpool hammered Watford 5-0 with 4 goals from man of the moment Mohammed Salah. Liverpool have lost just 3 in their last 15 games on the road and with the likes of Salah and Roberto Firmino scoring for fun of late they’ll look to see the game out early in order to rest key players for the City tie.

Crystal Palace bounced back with their first win in seven games last time out against Huddersfield in a massive victory in their hunt for survival. Despite the revival from when Roy Hodgson took charge in November the Eagles have been in and around the bottom 3 all season long and their recent run of form dragged them right back into the relegation dogfight. The return of star man Wilfried Zaha was key for Palace with his injury contributing to the Eagles’ lack of form of late. The Ivorian looks like Palace’s key to survival with Palace only losing 7 of the 22 games in which the winger has played in this season. Palace have a history of upsetting Liverpool as well, winning 6 of their last 12 against the reds and will be desperate to cause another shock here.

Manchester United vs Swansea

Jose Mourinho’s side come into this one in pole position to become best of the rest this season. Despite the criticism of late Mourinho’s side look certain to book their place back in the Champions League for next season. There’s been a lot of speculation about the future of many of United’s first team players including record signing Paul Pogba who has been left out by Mourinho in recent weeks but after a goal for France in midweek the Frenchman will be pushing for a recall on Saturday. Last time out United dispatched Brighton 2-0 in the FA Cup Quarter Final with goals from the inform Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic. Lukaku now has 10 goals in his last 14 appearances for the Red Devils and has regained the form he was showing at the start of the season. United have only lost one league game at home all season and look set to extend that record here.

As for Swansea their FA Cup run ended at the hand of Spurs last time out and are now focussing solely on maintaining their Premier League place for next season. Since manager Carlos Carvalhal took over in December the Swans’ push towards Premier League safety begun with just 3 defeats in all competitions since the turn of the year and now sit on 31 points with 8 games left to play this season. The Swans however have an awful record on their travels this season with just two away wins in the Premier League this season and none in 2018. Swansea have however taken points off of United in 4 of their last 8 matches against the Red Devils and will be looking to cause another upset here.

Brighton vs Leicester

Brighton come into this one on 34 points with 8 games to play and in a good position to maintain their Premier League status for next season. The Seagulls have their home form to thank for their position with just 3 defeats at the Amex Stadium in the League this season including a victory against Arsenal in their last home game. Brighton’s FA Cup dreams ended at the hands of Manchester United last time out but their main priority for the season has been to secure Premier League survival and are just 2 wins away from the magic 40 point barrier. Inform striker Glenn Murray has got 5 in his last 5 games at the Amex and has 11 in the League this season.

Leicester are looking to keep the pressure on the final Europa League place for next season.  They sit just 3 points behind 7th placed Burnley and if either of Manchester United, Chelsea or Tottenham win the FA Cup then 7th will provide Europa League football for next season. Last time out they were just seen off by Chelsea after extra time in the FA Cup Quarter finals. Leicester’s star men are also coming into form coming in the home stretch of the season. Rhyad Mahrez has contributed to 3 goals in his last 2 league games and Jamie Vardy has scored 4 in his last 5 away matches and is coming off of a goal for England against Italy in midweek so we expect goals here.

Manchester City vs Everton

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City need just 6 more points to secure the Premier League title. A win here would allow for City to be able to win the title in next weekends Manchester derby which the players and the fans will be desperate to see. City have been paving teams apart all season and look set to win the League in record style. No one has been able to even compete with Guardiola’s side who have dropped just 9 points all season long. Top scorer Sergio Aguero will be missing for the league leaders so Gabriel Jesus will lead the line who scored the only goal in Brazil’s win against Germany in midweek.  City haven’t played since the 12th March so will be fully prepared for this one and look set to take another step towards the Premier League title.

Sam Allardyce’ Everton are all but safe from relegation after back to back wins against Brighton and Stoke in their last 2 games and Everton fans will be looking for something to cheer after a disappointing campaign. January signing Cenk Tosun has come into form and in recent weeks has looked like the striker Everton have been missing since the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United in the Summer. The Turksh international has 3 in his last 3 matches and will be looking to delay City’s title party. Everton are one of the only teams to take points off City this season with a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park back in August and will be looking to cause an upset once again.
