Premier League Round-Up: Sunday 07/10/18

Paddy Power offer bannerFulham vs Arsenal – 12:00

Misfiring Fulham play host to Arsenal in this Sunday’s early kick-off at Craven Cottage. The home side head into this fixture low on confidence following a run of poor results that have seen them win just one league game all season. Slaviša Jokanović’s men have taken just one point from a potential nine in their previous three matches, and last weekend were well beaten away at Everton, losing 3-0 to the Toffees at Goodison Park.

The form of leading striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is one positive the West London outfit can take however, the Serbian forward has bagged five goals so far this term so will be the biggest threat for the hosts in this one. Mitrovic to score anytime in this clash is best priced at 9/5 with Betway and with his recent form considered, we think that could be a shrewd bet in this one.

Arsenal on the other hand head into this match-up in terrific form, winning all eight of their previous games in all competitions. The Gunners have been free-scoring of late, netting 12 goals in their last five league games and last weekend overcame a strong Watford side 2-0 at The Emirates.

Unai Emery’s men didn’t particularly perform that well against the Hornets, however they put in a resilient defensive performance and grounded out the win, something that in years gone by they would have perhaps struggled to do. Arsenal have scored two or more goals in all four of their previous games in all competitions, which would suggest a fairly high scoring affair at Craven Cottage. Over 2.5 goals is quite a short bet at odds of 2/5 with most bookmakers, however there is value backing over 3.5 match goals here, best priced at EVENS with PaddyPower, SkyBet, Bet365 & William Hill.

Southampton vs Chelsea – 14:15

Strugglers Southampton face a tough challenge as they welcome high-fliers Chelsea to St Mary’s. Mark Hughes’ men have only won once on the Premier League this season and have lost their previous two games to Liverpool and Wolves respectively. Saints conceded five goals in those two games, failing to find the net once so really need a change of fortunes if they’re to avoid back-to-back relegation scraps this time out.

Southampton’s home form this term has been far from impressive; the southerners have lost two and drawn two of their four games on home soil so far and threw away a two goal lead against Brighton three weeks ago so take little to no momentum into this fixture against the Blues. We’re not holding out much hope for the hosts here, and would heavily favour Chelsea to win this tie without conceding. An away win-to-nil bet is best priced with BetVictor at 9/5, however if you do fancy an upset at St Mary’s, you can get the hosts to win at a huge 5/1 with Bet365 and Betfred.

Chelsea currently sit third in the Premier League, just two points behind both Liverpool and Manchester City, so desperately need a win here to retain pressure on the top two ahead of the international break next weekend. Maurizio Sarri has got this Chelsea side playing some fantastic football this season; they’re currently unbeaten in the Premier League after seven matches, but have been held to draws in their last two games against West Ham and most recently Liverpool, so need to get back to winning ways here against Southampton to ensure their confidence remains sky-high.

The scintillating form of winger Eden Hazard has got everyone talking right now, the Belgian international currently sits top of the goalscoring charts with six goals, and won’t think twice about adding to his impressive tally against a Southampton side who have so far shipped goals for fun this term. Hazard will be the key threat for the visitors this Sunday and is best priced to open the scoring at 4/1 with SkyBet, better than the 7/2 currently being offered by most bookmakers.

Recommended bet: Chelsea to win-to-nil at 9/5 with BetVictor – BET HERE

Liverpool vs Manchester City – 16:30

Undoubtedly the most exciting fixture currently on offer in the top-flight, the two favourites for league supremacy lock horns at Anfield in Sunday’s late kick-off, as Liverpool host reigning champions Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have enjoyed a terrific start to their season this time around, winning six and drawing one of their opening seven matches so take a great deal of confidence into this challenging tie against the Cityzens. Just like last term, Liverpool haven’t struggled finding the net so far this season, scoring 15 times – only their opponents this weekend have managed more, bagging 21, so this Sunday’s match promises to be packed full of action.

Last weekend, Liverpool were minutes away from their first defeat of the season when they trailed Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge up until the 89th minute. Substitute Daniel Sturridge rescued a point for the travellers though, curling in a stunning long range effort past a helpless Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Blues net. That 1-1 draw in West London now means that three of Liverpool’s last four league games have ended with a BTS scoreline, and we’d be hugely shocked if we didn’t see a repeat in this encounter. BTTS is priced at odds of 1/2 with the majority of bookies, however Ladbrokes have it priced slightly higher at 8/15.

Manchester City have started this season much the same as they ended the last one – unstoppable. Pep Guardiola’s dominant outfit have claimed 19 points from a possible 21 so far, and currently sit top of the pile heading into this Sunday’s bumper clash with second-placed Liverpool. City have averaged three goals a game this term, and won their most recent away match against Cardiff 5-0 a fortnight ago, suggesting absolutely no issues with their form on the road. Of course, Liverpool will be a much trickier tie on Sunday, but having come from a goal behind midweek to beat Hoffenheim in the Champions League, they travel to Anfield with a huge deal of momentum, something Liverpool may struggle with following on from their abysmal performance against Napoli on Wednesday evening.

With both sides scoring goals for fun at the moment, over 2.5 goals seems like a pretty safe bet in this match, however that is of course being reflected in the odds with the best price on the market being 4/6. Both league meetings between these two sides last season ended with more than four goals scored, and we can see a repeat here. Over 3.5 goals is priced at odds of 6/4 with most bookmakers, however Unibet have that selection at a slightly higher 13/8. Sadio Mane and Sergio Aguero both to score in this fixture is priced at odds of 11/2 with Bet365; they’re probably the two biggest threats for both sides here, so if you fancy a bet on a goalscorer market here then we think that’s your best option!

Recommended bet: Sadio Mane and Sergio Aguero both to score at 11/2 with Bet365 – BET HERE
