Rangers vs Kilmarnock Betting Preview – 31/10/2018

Rangers vs Kilmarnock

Rangers host Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership, just a few days after a gutting 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup. Steven Gerrard’s side will be looking to bounce back and get back to winning ways after the narrow defeat at Hampden Park. It will definitely be a tough game for the Gers, who face a Kilmarnock side that have won four league games on the spin and are expected to make it difficult for Rangers.

Rangers are at 1/2 to beat Kilmarnock with Sky Bet here, which reflects the strong form they have shown this season, particularly at Ibrox. They will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing cup exit here and vital to that plan is striker Alfredo Morelos. His aggressive nature can sometimes lead him getting into trouble yet he has many good qualities. He has scored four league goals in nine starts and has been an asset for the Blues this season.

Rangers had won three consecutive league games before their 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen. They had scored ten and conceded just three goals in their winning run. These two sides faced each other earlier in the season with the hosts coming out on top. A good statistic for Kilmarnock is that they have only lost two of their last nine league matches against Kilmarnock. They are not expected to get a result and that is why double chance for the away side is priced at 6/4. However, Rangers have made Ibrox a fortress this season, winning all of their home games and scoring the most goals at home in the Scottish Premiership.

Steve Clarke’s side have had an incredible start to the season, sitting in second place after 10 games. The former West Brom manager has performed minor miracles in getting Kilmarnock near the top of the league. He has made them strong defensively and hard to break down.  They have lost just three times in 15 matches this season. Kilmarnock were held at the weekend, drawing 1-1 with Hamilton but had gone on a four match winning run before then, including beating Celtic 2-1.

They are ahead of both the Old Firm sides in the league and should not fear playing Rangers. They will hope to replicate Aberdeen’s approach of frustrating Rangers. Rangers have not scored in their previous two games and a shut-out for the third game running is priced at 13/2. Clarke’s side are very disciplined and will look to deny space for the Rangers forwards to run into. It therefore makes under 2.5 goals at 11/10 a worthy bet.
