Rapid Wien vs Inter Milan Betting Preview – 14/02/2019

Rapid Wien vs Inter Milan

Rapid Wien welcome Italian giants Inter Milan to Austria on Thursday as they look to cause an upset in the Europa League Round of 32 stage. Rapid are enduring a tough season domestically and that’s why they find themselves as huge outsiders at 5/1 with Betfair, despite being at home. Inter Milan are priced at a short 3/5 with Bet365.

This season simply hasn’t gone for plan for Rapid Wien who sit all the way down in eighth in the Austrian Bundesliga. They are as many as seven points off the top four and an unrecoverable 28 points behind leaders Salzburg. Due to a winter break, Rapid haven’t actually played a league game since December and they left off with the worst possible result, losing 6-1 to rivals Austria Wien. Before that, however, they did manage to beat Rangers to edge into the knockout stage of this competition, finishing second behind Villarreal.

Rapid have only won one of their last three games, and given they take that form, albeit on the back of a break, into a clash with European heavyweights Inter, it’s no surprise to see them at such a long price, 5/1 to be exact with Betfair. In terms of the ones to watch, there aren’t too many and that may be one of the reasons why Wien find themselves in such troubled water. Deni Alar has scored three this season, he’s 7/2 to score at any time with Boyle Sports. Mario Sonnleitner has also scored three, he’s 14/1 to score with Bet365, being a defender and Thomas Murg, who has also scored three and he is at 6/1 with Unibet.

Inter Milan are enjoying a very decent season, sitting third in the Serie A table and four points ahead of city rivals AC Milan. They are, however, well out of the race for second, sitting as many as nine points behind Napoli. Inter come into this one on the back of a win over Parma thanks to a goal from Lautaro Martinez. Before that, they suffered three straight defeats, including shock league losses to Torino and Bologna, as well as a cup defeat to Lazio. Inter progressed to this stage of the competition after being knocked out of the Champions League group, finishing third behind Barcelona and Tottenham. They missed out on narrowly to Spurs, finishing on the same number of points.

Argentine Mauro Icardi is the man to watch for Inter, he’s scored nine league goals and he’s a reported target of a number of clubs heading towards the summer. Icardi is priced at a generous 18/5 with Bet Victor to score first here. Croatian Ivan Perisic is another who has caught the eye, scoring three and creating two from midfield in the league. He’s at 15/8 to score any time with Bet Victor. Keita and Lautaro Martinez have each netted four league goals this season and the latter is 7/4 with Bet365 to score here, netting the winner last time out.
