Sheffield United vs Barnet

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United square off against Darren Currie’s Barnet on Sunday afternoon in the third-round of the FA Cup and the match should be an interesting one at Bramall Lane. The hosts are flying high in the Championship at the moment, whilst Barnet have had somewhat of an uninspiring season in the National League so far – but both teams have a shared goal of their want to be in the hat for the fourth-round draw and each sides’ attacking mentality should make for an exciting match for the neutral.

Sheffield United are flying high in the Championship at the moment in third place after 26 matches and 14 wins, as well as five draws has got them to that position. Their form as of late has been devastating and the break from league action for FA Cup third-round action against Barnet this weekend arguably hasn’t come at the right time, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be slacking here and a cup-run is something the Blades fans would welcome with open arms. The hosts are the obvious favourites at 1/4 with Unibet, but Wilder’s men have scored three goals in their last three matches and that is a bet we like at 11/10 with Sky Bet. Over 3.5 goals is also an attractive bet at 16/11 with Bet Victor, whilst over 4.5 is a big 10/3 with William Hill.

Billy Sharp is a man on fire at the moment and the football league veteran will no doubt be hungry for more goals this weekend as he likely leads the line. The 32-year-old has 16 goals this season and his odds of 3/1 to score first here with Bet365 look attractive. Irishman David McGoldrick will be hoping to get his chance to take his tally to double figures and the former Ipswich man is 16/5 to score first here with Ladbrokes. United to win both the first and second half here is another bet we like at 5/6 with Coral, whilst the -1 handicap for the hosts is 8/11 with Betfred.

Unlike their opponents this weekend, Barnet will no doubt welcome the opportunity to delve into some FA Cup action in order to take a break from what has been an uninspiring National League campaign up to now. The away side sit 14th in the league having won ten and drawn five of their 25 matches this term and perhaps this is also why BetVictor give the visitors little chance of winning at 11/1, whilst the draw is 21/4 with the same bookmaker. Barnet have scored at least one goal in four of their last five and the same again here is 10/11 with Sky Bet, whilst the +2 handicap is evens with the same bookmaker.

Spearheading the Barnet attack will be talisman Wesley Fonguck and having scored six goals in 20 matches this term, the 21-year-old’s price of 20/1 with Ladbrokes to score first here looks a huge one. Striker Shaq Coulthirst will lead the line here and the 24-year-old is 14/1 with Bet365 to score first and add to his five-goal tally, whilst two-goal Jack Barham is 9/2 with Coral to score anytime. The visitors double chance here is 3/1 with Ladbrokes, whilst Barnet to seal qualification into the fourth-round is a big 11/2 with Betfair.
