2019 Premier League Darts Betting Preview: Week 4

2019 Premier League Darts

Week four of the Premier League is in Exeter and there a few appetising ties awaiting as the league table begins to take shape. Michael Smith faces Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld while Luke Humphries plays the first Premier League match of his career against in-form player Gerwyn Price.

Gerwyn Price vs Luke Humphries

Gerwyn Price is in a rich vein of form at the moment and he takes on debutant Luke Humphries. The Iceman is unbeaten in the Premier League and was successful over the weekend, winning back-to-back Players Championship events. Price beat Ricky Evans on Sunday to cap off a wonderful weekend and became the first man to do the double this year on the Pro Tour weekend. Humphries was given an opportunity to play at this year’s Premier League after his World Championship exploits, reaching the quarter-finals and is 15/8 to win on Thursday night. Price is a strong favourite at 8/11 and should keep his fantastic run going.

Daryl Gurney vs Rob Cross

Daryl Gurney moved up to second in the Premier League with a hard-fought 7-5 win over World Championship finalist Michael Smith. He started slowly and was 2-0 down but worked his way back into it and started to dominate. Rob Cross was thrashed 7-2 by Michael van Gerwen in a difficult evening for ‘Voltage’. The whitewash was becoming possible as van Gerwen led 6-0 but Cross managed to gain some respectability. He will be hoping to bounce back and is 6/5 favourite against Gurney.

Mensur Suljovic vs Peter Wright

Mensur Suljovic faces Peter Wright aiming to get his Premier League campaign back on track after a winless start. The Austrian was 3-0 and 5-1 up against Raymond van Barneveld but ‘Barney’ clawed back and rescued a point in a thrilling match. Meanwhile, Peter Wright picked up his first victory in the Premier League season with a 7-5 win over Irishman Steve Lennon. Lennon was playing in front of his home crowd as last week’s contender and began superbly, leading 3-0. Wright fought back to win the match and is favourite to win at 6/5. However, we fancy Wright to draw his third match in four weeks at 3/1.

Michael van Gerwen vs James Wade

Michael van Gerwen takes on James Wade hoping to make it four wins out of four. The world champion came close to whitewashing Rob Cross but still put in a wonderful performance. He averaged 101.93. James Wade blew a 5-2 lead to draw against Gerwyn Price in an entertaining match. It is one win, one draw and one defeat so far for Wade and he faces a huge task against the ‘Flying Dutchman’ – priced at 7/1 to win. The Dutchman is a short price at ¼ to win and we like James Wade to cover a +3.5 game handicap at 8/11

Recommended Bet: James Wade +3.5 games at 8/11 with Sky Bet – BET HERE

Michael Smith vs Raymond van Barneveld

Michael Smith has endured a World Championship hangover and has yet to win in the Premier League. Bully Boy has struggled and has not recovered from his defeat in the final to van Gerwen. He sits bottom of the table but will be hoping he can get back on track against a battling van Barneveld. Barney came back from 5-1 down to draw against Mensur Suljovic and in the week before, came back from 6-2 down against Price to scrape a draw. Both are without a win with Smith sitting bottom but we expect him to break that duck and he is 8/11 to do that.
