2019 Premier League Darts Betting Preview: Week 9

Phase 2 of the 2019 Darts Premier League begins on Thursday night, as the tournament heads to Northern Ireland in Belfast. It is the only trip to Northern Ireland in the competition and will include home favourite Daryl Gurney, who finished fourth in Phase 1 of this year’s tournament. Not included in Thursday night’s schedule is Raymond van Barneveld, who was eliminated after winning just one of his nine games in the tournament, with that coming against wildcard selection Max Hopp in Berlin. Check out the recommended bets for each of the four games in Belfast on Thursday night.

Mensur Suljovic vs James Wade

Thursday’s action commences with Mensur Suljovic’s clash with James Wade, both of whom finished Phase 1 on a double figures return of points. Suljovic is currently fifth in the table after securing four wins in his first nine matches of the competition, but lost most recently to Daryl Gurney. As for Wade, he is unbeaten in his last three Premier League games and currently finds himself sat third in the table. Despite Suljovic winning the last meeting between the two, we’re backing Wade to get a win in this one.

Michael Smith vs Peter Wright

The two players currently in the bottom two of the Premier League table meet in the second game of the night in Belfast, with eighth-placed Michael Smith facing seventh-placed Peter Wright. Smith will be looking to bounce back after suffering a 7-4 defeat to James Wade in his previous outing, a result which now leaves him at the bottom of the table. As for Wright, he has the lowest win total of any player in the Premier League, taking just two victories from his first nine matches. With both in poor form, we’re backing the draw in this one.

Recommended Bet: Draw at 4/1 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Rob Cross vs Daryl Gurney

The hometown favourite Daryl Gurney will be looking to make an impression when he faces 2018 world champion Rob Cross. Cross is currently level on points with Premier League leader Michael van Gerwen, having won six, drawn one and lost two of his first nine games in Phase 1. As for Gurney, he currently sits fourth in the table after taking five wins from his first nine matches and had a successful trip to Rotterdam last week, beating Mensur Suljovic and Raymond van Barneveld by an aggregate 14-4 scoreline. With his form last week and the fact he is playing in his home country, we’re backing Gurney to pick up the win here.

Michael van Gerwen vs Gerwyn Price

Finally, the night in Belfast ends with Michael van Gerwen’s clash against Gerwyn Price. Unsurprisingly, MVG currently finds himself sat on top of the Premier League table after winning six of his first nine matches, including two outstanding performances by beating Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld 7-1 in successive nights in Rotterdam. As for Price, he also beat Wright in Rotterdam but lost to Michael Smith the night before, leaving him sitting sixth in the Premier League table. van Gerwen beat Price 7-2 earlier in the competition and we’re expecting a similarly dominant display this time around.
Recommended Bet: Michael van Gerwen -3.5 handicap at 5/6 with Bet365 – BET HERE
