28/10/17 – Anthony Joshua vs Carlos Takam

IBF and WBA champion Anthony Joshua defends his titles against Frenchman Carlos Takam on the 28th October after Kubrat Pulev pulled out with a shoulder injury.

The fight will see Joshua fight in Wales for the first time at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff. It will be six months since Britain’s superstar was in the ring after his ‘fight of the year’ against Wladimir Klitschko which saw him beat the Ukrainian by TKO in the eleventh round at a sold-out Wembley Stadium. The fight was described as “the most anticipated boxing match in decades” prior to the fight and it certainly didn’t disappoint with Joshua dropped to the canvas in the sixth round.

Joshua’s post fight interview saw him call out fellow Brit Tyson Fury, who remains without a boxing license. The former World Champion was stripped of his IBF title in December 2015 after only holding the belt for 10 days. A potential clash between Fury and Joshua continues to be discussed however as things stand, it feels like one of the potentially biggest possible fights in world boxing is a long way away from happening.

Anthony Joshua is on record stating “I think we’re going for a 10 to 12 round fight because this guy’s head is like a block of cement”. Whether it’s to hype the fight or he does actually rate Carlos Takam, time will tell.

Fight Odds:
