Aviva Premiership Round-Up: Round 5

Aviva Premiership Round-Up: Round 5

Newcastle vs Wasps

Two teams that have had mixed starts to their respective seasons meet on Friday evening, with Newcastle hosting Wasps. Newcastle have lost three of their opening four matches, including a narrow 17-24 loss against Exeter at home last week. They run into a Wasps side who have won back-to-back games against both Leicester and Sale Sharks and will be in a confident mood, particularly after scoring more than 30 points in both victories. Newcastle are still favourites at 8/11 with Paddy Power, while Wasps are 13/8 with Betfred. We like Wasps on the handicap in this one.

Recommended bet: Wasps +4 handicap at 5/6 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Bristol vs Northampton

Bristol will be looking to win back-to-back games here against Northampton, having secured a 20-13 victory over Harlequins last time out. The result leaves the team 8th in the Premiership table, after opening with two wins and two defeats. As for Northampton, they have lost each of their last two games, falling to defeat in agonising fashion against Bath last time out in a narrow 17-15 loss. Tom Collins’ late try gave the team hope, but it didn’t prove to be enough, although his team are favourites here at 8/11 with William Hill. They narrowly edge out Bristol, who are best-priced at 23/20 also with William Hill.

Recommended bet: Northampton win at 5/6 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Exeter vs Worcester

In-form Exeter will look to continue their 100% record against a Worcester side who have won just one of their first four matches. On paper, this should be a straightforward win for the home side, who won 24-17 away at Newcastle last weekend. As for Worcester, they won an incredible game with Leicester 44-37, with the victory putting an end to their run of three straight defeats. Exeter are clear favourites at 1/33 with Bet365, with Worcester priced at 16/1 to win with Betfair.

Recommended bet: Worcester +23 handicap at 10/11 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Gloucester vs Harlequins

5th plays host to 6th in this Premiership clash as Gloucester and Harlequins look to break into the top four of the table. Gloucester have two wins, a draw and a defeat to show for their efforts so far, with the loss coming against Saracens in emphatic fashion last time out, losing 38-15. Harlequins have just the one victory to their name so far, with that coming on the opening day against Sale. They have since lost three in a row and are 6/1 to win here with Betfair. We fancy Gloucester in this one, who have won both of their home games so far this season.

Recommended bet: Gloucester -13 handicap at 10/11 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Saracens vs Bath

Top of the league Saracens will look to extend their winning run when they face the challenge of fourth-placed Bath this weekend. Saracens have been in emphatic form, winning each of their four games and scoring over 30 points in each of their games so far and beat Gloucester 38-15 last time out. However, Bath should be stubborn opposition for them after winning each of their last two games against Harlequins and Northampton. Saracens are huge favourites at 1/16 with William Hill, while Bath can be backed at 25/1 with Betfair and Paddy Power.

Recommended bet: Bath +26 handicap at 10/11 with Bet365 – BET HERE

Leicester vs Sale

The final game of the weekend comes on Sunday as Leicester face Sale in a meeting of two sides with just one win to their name so far. Leicester have no problem scoring in recent weeks, but have looked vulnerable defensively, leading to their 44-37 defeat at the hands of Worcester last time out. As for Sale, they have lost each of their last two games, allowing 66 points in the process and sit bottom of the table at present. At home, Leicester are favoured at 1/4 with Bet365, while William Hill are offering 3/1 on a Sale victory.

Recommended bet: Leicester -10 handicap at 10/11 with Bet365 – BET HERE
