It’s a fight that the whole of Britain wants to see, but, one that it seems we are going to be kept waiting for.

A heavyweight unification title bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury – presumably at Wembley Stadium – would arguably be the biggest fight in British boxing history, should it one day come to fruition.

However, Fury looks set to fight Deontay Wilder once again in his next bout, having been controversially awarded a draw in their first meeting back in December with the American’s WBC title on the line.

That leaves Joshua with the prospect of either facing Dillian Whyte in a rematch at Wembley Stadium in April, or to make his American debut, with work for a fight against Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden in the pipeline.

But who would win an all-British bout between Joshua and Fury?

The bookmakers have already had their say, publishing their odds for the outright winner of the future fight and they have sided with the current unified champion, Joshua.

The 28-year-old is 22-0 with 21 KOs to this point of his career, having wins over the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin and the aforementioned White on his record. He is best-priced to win a potential Fury fight at 5/6 with Betfair and Paddy Power.

As for Fury, who ended a three-year exile from the sport in 2018, he is the current underdog at 6/5 with SkyBet, though plenty could change should he manage to defeat Wilder in the likely rematch later this year.

The highlight of the Gypsy King’s career came also came in a defeat of Klitschko, who he outclassed over 12 rounds to become the undisputed heavyweight champion in Germany.

For now, we can only dream of a potential meeting between two of Britain’s biggest names in boxing, with it seeming that they are both on different paths in the immediate future. It remains close, but Joshua is the slight current favourite.
