Coronation Street betting odds available for who will die in factory collapse

Which of the Corrie cast will be killed off in upcoming scenes?

WARNING: Potential Coronation Street spoilers!

What’s happening in Coronation Street we hear you ask. Well things are starting to heat up in their latest major storyline which will see the Underworld knicker factory collapse. A recent episode set the scene for the tragic events set to unfold, when local builder Gary Windass told Carla Connor (Alison King) that the roof of the factory is not safe (thanks to Pat Phelan’s dodgy work) and will cost £60,000 to repair.

When Carla discovers that her insurance company will not pay out to cover the costs of the repair work, she decides to instruct Gary to cut corners and do the job for £8,000. That decision will have huge consequences though and one of the Coronation Street characters will die as Underworld ends up collapsing.

With another harrowing storyline set to take place on the cobbles, Betway have opened up a market on which character will die as a result of the Underworld factory collapse.

Coronation Street deaths are certainly not an uncommon occurrence, indeed plenty of major characters have been killed off down the years. The likes of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan), Jack Duckworth (Bill Tarmey), Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) and Richard Hillman (Brian Capron) are all examples of characters who met their maker on the show and all in very different circumstances. But who the ITV soap opera’s next victim be?

Carla Connor’s decision to cut corners will cost one Coronation Street character their life.

Who dies in Coronation Street factory collapse?

There is one character who is the standout favourite to be killed off as a result of the Underworld collapse and that is Rana Habeeb. Weatherfield’s local doctor is due to get married to long-term partner Kate Connor soon but according to the bookmakers could meet a harrowing end before tying the knot with odds of 1/4 to be the character that dies. It would make sense in terms of who is leaving Coronation Street soon too, with actress Bhavna Limbachia having already confirmed she will quit the show in 2019.

Those odds do not guarantee her death though. Just last year Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) was odds-on to die at the hands of Phelan, but as it turned out she was just shot by the villain but survived. It is therefore more than possible that someone else could be killed instead of Rana.

In as second favourite is Izzy Armstrong, who actually works in the factory in question so it makes sense that she could be inside at the time of the collapsed. She has a child with Gary who will carry out the botched repairs, which would make her potential death heartbreaking for him. Her odds are currently at 5/2.

Also in the running is Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) who is currently in as third favourite with odds of 11/4. Shona, who is in a relationship with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), is set for another major upcoming storyline which involves her being taken hostage by criminal son Clayton, so it does seem a little unlikely that she will be a major part of the factory story too.

Kate Connor is priced at 7/2 so it could yet be her as opposed to Rana who dies before their wedding. Meanwhile Seb Franklin (6/1) and Tim Metcalfe (8/1) make up the top six characters in the betting market.

Established characters and fan favourites such as Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) all look safe however, with odds of 50/1 each.
