Tiger Roll expected to win his second successive Grand National

Tiger Roll expected to win his second successive Grand National

Grand National odds set at 4/1 for Tiger Roll

Last year’s Grand National saw Tiger Roll winning the famous race at a starting price of 10/1. He did this in style through pushing six lengths clear and holding out until the finish line, and the performance has been enough to see both bookmakers and punters fancying his chances again at Grand National 2019.

Ranking as one of the favourites, only Total Recall (7/1) and Anibale Fly (10/1) were given a price that was either shorter or the same last time around, but Tiger Roll now possesses a far weaker 4/1 price, presenting just how highly-rated it now is in the horse racing world.

Winning at Cheltenham Festival 2019 convinced any remaining doubters

Odds for the Grand National were first released just one day after Grand National 2018, where Tiger Roll’s win put him at 16/1 to come out on top yet again in his next attempt. The end of January saw the Tiger Roll odds drift to 25/1, moving back down to 20/1 shortly before he ran his first race of 2019.

A massive change to the Grand National odds came about after Tiger Roll won the Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle at Navan in February, moving to as short as 12/1 with some bookmakers. It unsurprisingly took until Cheltenham Festival for any further fluctuations, going down to 10/1 before the race got underway, but then moving even further down to 6/1 after Tiger Roll had won the Glenfarclas Chase.

The rest of the changes to Tiger Roll’s horse racing odds were down to the bettors that were choosing to get behind the Gordon Elliott horse ahead of other Grand National runners. Often moving between 7/2 and 3/1, Betway now offer the largest price at 4/1.

Tiger Roll Grand National

Trained by Gordon Elliott, Tiger Roll has become a favourite recently, taking wins at Aintree and Cheltenham Festival.

Following the 4/1 price handed to Tiger Roll, Rathvinden is priced at 10/1, followed by both Vintage Clouds and Anibale Fly at the same 14/1 odds. Lake View Lad is a larger option at 18/1, before several horses are priced at 20/1.

All of Pleasant Company, Rock The Kasbah, Mall Dini, Pairofbrowneyes, Jury Duty, Step Back and Joe Farrell are given a 20/1 price on most bookmaker websites, leaving a slightly larger 25/1 price for all of Walk In The Mill, Ramses De Teillee, One For Arthur, General Principle, Dounikos, Minella Rocco and Up For Review.

There are an estimated eighty horses in contention for the Grand National, with a lot of the current entries expected to drop out before the race gets underway on Saturday. It would say a lot about Tiger Roll if he can win a second successive Grand National, especially as it would be the first horse to do that since Red Rum set an incredible record back in 1974.
