Khabib Nurmagomedov eager for Floyd Mayweather fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov has confirmed he has held discussions regarding a potential cross-over fight with undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather has already fought one UFC fighter, having taken on and defeated Conor McGregor in 2017, extending his perfect record to 50-0 thanks to a stoppage in the 10th round in Las Vegas.

Khabib, fresh off of his own victory over the Irishman, now wants to have a super fight of his own against ‘Money’ Mayweather.

The Russian revealed he wants the fight to take place in his native Russia, saying in an Instagram post:”A meeting with the Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation @umar_kremlev was held today.

“We discussed the fight with Mayweather.

“We want the fight to take place in Moscow at the legendary Luzhniki arena. They are sure that we will gather 100,000 spectators, and also set a world record for the sale of paid broadcasts.

“And, most importantly, my father will be in the corner, a visa to Moscow is not needed.

“And so a question for my fans: do you believe in me? Or do you also think that he will knock me out of boxing?”

Mayweather has been linked with yet another return to the ring, with a rematch against Manny Pacquiao also still in the rumour mill, while McGregor would absolutely make a return to the squared circle.

The American previously commented on the possibility of a fight with Khabib, saying: “I’m Floyd Mayweather. I’m the A-side, you call me out, you come into my world.

“I don’t know no other fighter that has done the numbers I have done. I don’t know any fighters that have made the money I have made.

“So, he called me out – come into my world, make it happen.”
