WATCH: Tony Bellew confirms retirement from boxing

Former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew has officially announced that he is set to retire from boxing.

The 35-year-old recently took on the undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk at Manchester Arena in what was set to be his final fight in the sport, though the ‘Bomber’ didn’t get the fairytale ending he was after when he was stopped in the eighth round.

It was a disappointing end to what’s been a hard-fought, blue collar career in the sport filled with highs and lows for Bellew, who will perhaps be best known for twice beating David Haye at heavyweight.

Other career highlights include defeating Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park for the WBC cruiserweight title, while he also enjoyed memorable victories over Nathan Cleverly and BJ Flores.

He now leaves boxing as one of the more popular British fighters of his generation and with plenty of credit in the bag after taking on Usyk for all the marbles in his last hurrah. Watch below as the Scouser confirms he will not return to the ring.
