One of the main shocks at Sunday night’s Sports Personality of the Year ceremony came in the fact that Tyson Fury was omitted from the final shortlist.

The main six contenders were James Anderson, Dina Asher-Smith, Lewis Hamilton, Harry Kane, Geraint Thomas and Lizzie Yarnold, with the heavyweight boxer left off despite his inspirational 2018 both in and outside of the ring.

England captain Kane took third place, while Lewis Hamilton finished as the runner-up to winner Geraint Thomas, who claims the award following his victory in the Tour de France earlier this year.

However, there has since been plenty of backlash to the decision to leave Fury off the final six, after his superb performance in his controversial draw with Deontay Wilder in Los Angeles earlier this month.

Still, Fury made his impact on the night when he was up on stage with host Gary Lineker speaking about the year he’s had and his recent draw with Wilder. Watch below to see Fury speak about 2018, as well as continuing to spread the message about mental health.
