After Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal in Portugal’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Ukraine we thought we’d go through what we think are his top 7 goals. Obviously, this is based on personal opinion, so if you think that a certain goal is missing from the list feel free to let us know.

Portugal vs Spain - 2018

Starting off the list we go back to Portugal’s game against Spain in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup. Going into the final 5 minutes Portugal found themselves losing 3-2 to Spain. After being awarded a free-kick about 25 metres from goal, Ronaldo stepped up and struck the ball perfectly over the wall into the top right corner giving David De Gea no absolutely chance to get anywhere near saving the shot.

Arsenal vs Manchester United - 2009

Going back to his days at Manchester United, there's no way that we couldn’t include Ronaldo’s long-range free-kick against Arsenal during United’s Champions League semi-final second leg at the Emirates. Moments after Clive Tyldesley famous quote “too far for Ronaldo to think about it’, Ronaldo struck the 35 yard free-kick past Manuel Almunia to seal United’s place in the final.

Juventus vs Real Madrid - 2018

When Real Madrid travelled to Turin to face Juventus in the, he scored in the eyes of many people his best ever goal. Ronaldo met a Dani Carvajal cross with an overhead kick to score past Buffon and put Real Madrid 2-0. The goal was so good the Juventus fans in the stadium applauded Ronaldo and it was nominated for the Puskas Award.

Manchester United vs Portsmouth - 2008

Free-kicks seem to be a recurring theme with Ronaldo’s goals, with his goal for Manchester United against Portsmouth back in 2008 being another brilliant example. After taking a long run up, Ronaldo knuckle-balled the ball over the Portsmouth wall into the top right corner of the goal. It was destined for the top corner the moment the ball left the ground.

Porto vs Manchester United - 2009

After conceding 2 away goals in the first leg at Old Trafford, United at least 1 goal if they were to qualify to the semi-finals of the 08/09 Champions League and it came in the form of an outrageous Ronaldo long range shot. At least 40 metres away from goal, Ronaldo took possession of the ball and had a shot with his laces and the ball kept traveling without losing pace until it hit the back of the Porto net, giving United a vital away goal which helped them qualify for the next round.

Osasuna vs Real Madrid - 2012

Moving on from free-kicks we’ve gone for Ronaldo’s long range effort against Osasuna during the 11/12 season. After assisting Karim Benzema minutes earlier, Ronaldo got himself on the scoresheet after his long distance shot from about 30 metres from goal caught the Osasuna goalkeeper off guard and found its way into the top left side of the goal.

Marseille vs Real Madrid - 2009

And back onto the free-kicks we go. Finishing off our list we’ve gone Ronado’s first goal against Marseille in Real Madrid’s group stage match against Marseille during the 09/10 Champions League. After 5 minutes of play, Real Madrid were awarded a free-kick after Rafael Van Der Vaart was brought down by Edouard Cisse and Ronaldo stepped up to take it. Using his laces, Ronaldo struck the ball over the wall towards the left side of the goal and despite getting a hand to it, Mandanda couldn’t prevent the goal.
