England vs Belgium Prediction & Betting Tips

England take on Belgium at Wembley Stadium in an international friendly on Tuesday. Both sides will be looking to build some good form before the European Championships this summer.

The last international break before a summer full of tournaments sees England host Belgium. This clash will be important to both sides who hope to take winning momentum into the Euros, where Belgium hope to perform better and England look to take the Final step.

England secured their spot in the Euros this summer early on. In the Qualifiers, The Three Lions played eight games and picked up six wins and two draws, going unbeaten and topping the group - six points above holders Italy.

The last time in tournament competition saw England make it all the way to the Final. However, Gareth Southgate’s men fell at the last hurdle in dramatic fashion with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all missing their penalties, handing Italy the 3 - 2 win and the trophy.

Belgium similarly dominated the Euro Qualifiers this year. In eight games The Red Devils managed six wins and two draws, also going unbeaten in Group F. This gave them direct qualification at top of the group but just one point above Austria.

The Euros were underwhelming for Belgium, considering their strong team. The Red Devils finished top of Group B by a big margin, winning all three of their games. A Thorgan Hazard goal gave Belgium the 1 - 0 win in the Round of 16 but The Red Devils slumped to a 2 - 1 loss to Portugal to crash out at the Quarter-finals.

England and Belgium have met 25 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming in an international friendly all the way back in 1921. The Three Lions have a far better record in the fixture with 16 wins in comparison to Belgium’s five wins, the other four games ending in a draw.

However, three of Belgium’s five wins have all come in the last four meetings. One of these games, importantly, was the 2018 World Cup Third-place Play-off, where Belgium grabbed the bronze with a 2 - 0 win.

England Team News

Southgate has granted two first-time call-ups to Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton and Anthony Gordon of Newcastle. Familiar faces of Harry Kane, Saka and Jordan Pickford all remain along with a somewhat shock inclusion of Jordan Henderson.

Belgium Team News

Domenico Tedesco has also called up a strong side, though he will still be missing Kevin De Bruyne despite him being back from injury. However, the usual suspects of Romelu Lukaku, Leandro Trossard and Youri Tielemans are present along with Jeremy Doku who has impressed in the Premier League this season.

In their last six games in all competitions, England have four wins one draw and one loss.

The Three Lions travelled to Hampden Park to take on bitter rivals Scotland in a friendly. The Auld Enemy took a 2 - 0 lead into halftime through goals from Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham. An own goal from Harry Maguire got Scotland on the scoresheet but a late goal from Kane secured the 3 - 1 win for England.

Another friendly saw England host Australia at Wembley. Ollie Watkins scored the only goal of the game for England to give The Three Lions the 1 - 0 win.

Back in the European Qualifiers, England hosted Italy at Wembley in a repeat of the Euros Final years before. Gianluca Scamacca gave Italy the early lead but a penalty from Kane made it level at halftime. Another goal from Kane and a goal from Rashford bagged a 3 - 1 win for England.

An own goal from Enrico Pepe gave England the lead over Malta in the eighth minute. Kane also bagged another goal for England in the 2 - 0 win over a Malta side that had zero shots on target and just 25% of the possession.

The last game of the European Qualifiers saw England at the Tose Proeski Arena to face North Macedonia. Enis Bardhi gave North Macedonia the 1 - 0 lead at halftime, but an own goal from Jani Atanasov drew England level before the hour mark. However, England failed to capitalise on their 75% of the possession and had to settle for a 1 - 1 draw.

England suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Brazil on Saturday as young sensation Endrick scored the only goal of the game.

In their last six games in all competitions, Belgium have five wins and one draw.

The European Qualifiers saw Belgium in Dalga Arena to take on Azerbaijan. Yannick Carrasco scored the only goal of the game in the 38th minute to give Belgium the 1 - 0 win.

Back in Belgium, The Red Devils hosted Estonia. Belgium veteran Jan Vertonghen opened the scoring in the fourth minute and Trossard doubled the lead before halftime. Lukaku grabbed a brace in the second half and was joined on the scoresheet by Charles De Ketelaere in the 5 - 0 win for Belgium.

A brace from Dodi Lukebakio and a goal from Lukaku gave Belgium the 3 - 0 lead over Austria before the hour mark. Konrad Laimer got Austria into the game and Belgium’s Amadou Onana was shown a red card with ten minutes to go. Marcel Sabitzer did convert a late penalty but Belgium held on for a 3 - 2 win.

Belgium hosted Serbia in a friendly in November. Carrasco once again grabbed the only goal of the game, this time in the second minute to give Belgium the 1 - 0 win, with Serbia failing to register a single shot on target.

The final week of European Qualifiers saw Belgium host Azerbaijan. An early red card to Azerbaijan’s Eddy Pascual opened the floodgates and four goals from Lukaku and a goal from Trossard wrapped up a 5 - 0 win for Belgium.

Belgium travelled to Ireland on Saturday where they were held to a 0-0 draw.

Despite the slip up against North Macedonia, England should bounce back against Belgium, continuing their good record in the fixture. However, Belgium are likely to trouble England with both teams finding the back of the net. England 2-2 Belgium
