Plymouth Argyle are on the lookout for a new manager following news that Ian Foster was dismissed in the aftermath of their 1-0 loss to Bristol City on Easter Monday. This defeat sees Plymouth sit just one point above the Championship's relegation zone in 20th-place on 41 points from 40 matches.
Foster joined Argyle on 5th January from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ettifaq having linked up with Steven Gerrard after a spell as England’s Under 20 manager.
During his time at Home Park, Foster oversaw 17 matches across all competitions, winning four and drawing four, equating to a 23.53% win percentage. The 47-year-old was relieved of his duties after Plymouth went on a run of just one win in 12 while going on a club record run of five home defeats in a row without scoring.
Foster’s sacking means that Plymouth will now be looking for a third manager this season having started off under now Stoke City boss Stephen Schumacher (who earned them promotion to the Championship last season). Rumours have linked the Home Park club with a move for Neil Warnock on a Interim basis until the end of the season.
Warnock would likely be a popular choice at Home Park with some fans having fond memories of the 75-year-old's spell at the club between 22nd June 1995 to 3rd February 1997 where he oversaw Plymouth's promotion from the Old Third Division via the play-offs in the 1995/96 season.
