Randal Kolo Muani Transfer News & Odds

Randal Kolo Muani’s rapid development since joining Eintracht Frankfurt a year ago has already been the catalyst for numerous transfer rumours this summer. The German outfit acquired Kolo Muani from FC Nantes for around £14 million yet today, the French forward is valued at £68 million according to TransferMarkt following an impressive domestic and international campaign.

If you are unfamiliar with Kolo Muani’s game, then the best way to display his attributes is to compare him to Alexander Isak of Newcastle United. The 24-year-old thrives when using his movement off the last line to exploit the channels in between the full-back and centre half, which ultimately means he often finds himself in 1V1 scenarios. Due to his direct dribbling and decisiveness, Muani often gets the better of his opponent, using his 6ft2 frame to breeze past players with ease. His unpredictability also provides an advantage over the defender, as he is extremely comfortable with using both feet.

The ability to utilise either foot depending on a split-second decision is particularly useful in the box/ in front of goal also. Using his quick feet and tight ball control, Kolo Muani can shift the ball quickly and get a shot away at goal despite being under pressure from multiple angles. He has goal-scoring and creative attributes which makes him versatile and an attractive prospect to many teams with fluid systems.

According to the odds, the most likely outcome for Kolo Muani this summer is to stay at his current club, Eintracht Frankfurt. The hefty price tag of £68M seems to be the biggest stumbling block for clubs who are interested in Muani, which obviously means only a select few clubs would have the funds to even approach Frankfurt.

From a player perspective, I believe it would be best for Kolo Muani to continue his development under manager Oliver Glasner as he knows how to get the best out of his star man. A move to a larger club will be on the horizon in the future, but a move this summer may come a little too soon in my opinion, especially considering he has just experienced his first major breakout season.

After losing their second-highest goal scorer of all time (Robert Lewandowski) to Barcelona last season, Bayern are in the hunt for a new man to lead the line this time around. The Bundesliga champions have already been active this window, signing Raphael Gurreiro and Konrad Laimer on free transfers from two of their biggest rivals. They are also close to signing Napoli defender Kim Min Jae with Thomas Tuchel being backed by the hierarchy.

Kolo Muani would be a good signing for Bayern simply due to the number of chances they create but then again, so would most strikers. Due to Bayern’s dominance on the field and more structured approach, a different striker profile who is more of a natural poacher may suit their style slightly better and Kolo Muani may not be able to have the same impact or freedom to perform to the best of his ability. Additionally, with rumours circulating about Bayern’s interest in Harry Kane, it seems that the Frankfurt man will be second choice and not a priority.

Paris Saint-Germain is one of the sides that could be the best match for Kolo Muani. With the departure of Lionel Messi, there is a vacant spot in the PSG front line which I think could be filled by the Eintracht Frankfurt attacker. Furthermore, Mbappe and Muani’s best attributes combine perfectly, and their positions can easily be interchangeable throughout a game, where a scenario could entail the current PSG star inverting and Kolo Muani drifting out wide to run the channels.

Kolo Muani’s link-up play would also get the best out of Mbappe, which will be a priority for new boss Luis Enrique, and we have already seen glimpses of this in the France national team. A return to Ligue 1 and Champions League football could be on the cards if PSG decide to ramp up their interest.

It is common knowledge that Manchester United will be looking to address their current striker situation this summer, after last season’s lack of a number nine. United had three strikers in their squad last term yet they only currently have one, which is an extremely Injury prone Anthony Martial.

As previously mentioned in the PSG section, Kolo Muani would work well alongside Marcus Rashford, in a similar way to how he would with Kylian Mbappe. However, with new signing Mason Mount costing around £55M, Andre Onana potentially costing a similar fee if he does move to the Red Devils and the lack of clarity around the ownership situation, it is fair to depict that the asking price for Kolo Muani would be too much and sale dependent.

Chelsea have already signed a striker this summer, in the form of Nicolas Jackson from Villareal in a deal worth £31M. Christopher Nkunku has also joined Chelsea to bolster their attacking options, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw Todd Boehly spending £68M on Kolo Muani also.

How Chelsea will recover from last season and perform under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino is unknown, but the transfer strategy is to rebuild last season’s rebuild by clearing out players from the already oversaturated squad. We have seen this intent already by the outgoings of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ngolo Kante, essentially the entire spine of the team. With more reportedly on the way out, I expect to see more arrivals and Kolo Muani could be one of them.

There is a Karim Benzema-sized hole in the Madrid attack currently, following his departure to Saudi Arabia but there hasn’t been any urgency to replace the Ballon d’Or winner as of yet with a big-money signing. They have recruited Espanyol’s Joselu but it seems that the long-term replacement is Palmeiras’ 16-year-old wonderkid Endrick, who Madrid have already signed.

In the meantime, Rodrygo looks set to share the striker role as he has been deployed as a false nine frequently under Carlo Ancelotti. The new signing of young prospect Arda Guler also backs this up, as he mainly operates down the right which is Rodrygo’s main position.
