5 Players to Consider for FPL Gameweek 12

Jordan

David Raya (Brentford) - £4.5m

If you’re looking for a cheap goalkeeper to slot into your FPL team this week, Brentford’s David Raya is a good option worth looking at.

Raya has recorded the fourth-highest number of points among all goalkeepers this season, with only Liverpool’s Alisson, Newcastle’s Nick Pope, and Jose Sa of Wolves scoring more. It’s possible that Raya could add a lot more to that tally, with Brentford coming up against a misfiring Aston Villa this weekend.

Villa have failed to score in three of their last four league games, with just two goals scored in their last five. If that poor form in front of goal continues this weekend, Raya will earn himself another clean sheet bonus and even more FPL points.

Joachim Andersen (Crystal Palace) - £4.5m

Joachim Andersen could be worth adding to your team this weekend, with Everton and Crystal Palace locking horns at Goodison on Saturday.

The Toffees are another side that have struggled in front of goal in recent times, failing to score in their last two fixtures. If that’s the case this weekend, a Crystal Palace defender could earn you some more points and pick up a clean sheet bonus.

Coming in at only £4.5m, Palace stalwart Andersen could be a good option to take. It’s almost a certainty that he will be at the heart of the Palace defence alongside Marc Guehi, and there’s always a chance that he can earn himself some bonus points.

Joe Gomez (Liverpool) - £4.5m

Another fairly cheap defender who should be worth considering is Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.

After putting in an outstanding performance against Manchester City to help keep Erling Haaland at bay, Liverpool’s centre-back pairing of Gomez and Virgil van Dijk kept another clean sheet in the win against West Ham in midweek.

With Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip still out for Liverpool, it’s almost a given that Gomez and van Dijk will start against Nottingham Forest this weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s side will be firm favourites against a Forest side that have failed to score in three of their last four league games.

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United) - £6.6m

After already beating Klopp’s Liverpool and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this season, Manchester United added another top-six name to that list on Wednesday night when the Red Devils picked up all three points against Antonio Conte’s Spurs. They could add another this weekend, but it will be a tough game against a Chelsea side that have looking impressive since Graham Potter’s appointment.

Erik ten Hag’s side looked dominant against Spurs and will look to take the game to the Blues in the same way when the teams meet in Saturday’s 5:30 pm kick-off. Chelsea will be a difficult ask, after winning five of their last six in all competitions under Potter, which could lead to an entertaining game.

Marcus Rashford didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet against Spurs, but that wasn’t through lack of effort. Rashford continued to link up with teammates and get in behind the Tottenham back line, but an excellent display from Hugo Lloris kept the United attacker out. With Anthony Martial a doubt for the game and Cristiano Ronaldo not part of the team for the trip to Stamford Bridge, Rashford will be the spearhead again up front for United.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) - £6.8m

For £6.8m, there aren’t many strikers that are better value for money than Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Fulham marksman sits in the top six for total points earned by strikers, having scored eight goals in ten Premier League appearances.

Mitrovic will be confident of adding to his tally when Fulham take on Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday. Leeds have failed to win in their last six league games and have suffered back-to-back defeats against Crystal Palace and Arsenal in their last two games. Mitrovic scored a penalty to make it 2-2 against Bournemouth last weekend before finding the net again on Thursday in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
