5 Premier League Tips for the Opening Weekend’s Action - 5/8/22

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal: Wilfred Zaha to Score & Crystal Palace to win -15/2

Last season, Palace had great home form, only losing four times at Selhurst Park, which also included a very impressive 3-0 win over Arsenal, whilst the Gunners away form last season wasn’t anything to shout home about, losing nine times, which could prove difficult for the Gunners to overcome early in this season, with the Palace home crowd one of the best in the league.

Zaha had the best goalscoring season of his career last year, netting 14 goals in the Premier League, and if his preseason form is anything to go by, netting three goals in three games, he could start the season where he left of and netting on opening day, which he has managed in two of the past four seasons.

Fulham vs Liverpool: Darwin Nunez & Mohamed Salah both to Score - 9/2

Liverpool’s open day fixtures in recent years have been nothing short of goals, with the Merseyside team scoring a combined twenty-two goals in their last six opening day matches and facing a newly promoted team in Fulham, the reigning Carabao Cup and FA Cup winners will be licking their lips for the return of the season.

Mo Salah has scored in each of his five opening day games for Liverpool, totalling seven goals in total on opening day matches, showing how much the Egyptian likes to start the season well, and for Nunez, he showed his ability to create a chance in the Community Shield, and if he is given the opportunity from the start, he should be able to fashion himself up a chance to score with the number of openings Liverpool are able to create.

Tottenham vs Southampton: Son to score, Tottenham to win, Over 2.5 goals & Salisu to be carded - 12/1

Heung-Min Son has a great recent record against Southampton, scoring in each of his past four appearances against the Saints, scoring seven goals, including four goals in one match in the 19/20 season.

Both Southampton and Spurs ended last season in opposite forms, with Tottenham winning eight of their last eleven games, whilst Southampton lost ten of their last thirteen games.

The forward line of Tottenham will cause Southampton a lot of problems, and with the flair of the likes of Dejan Kulusevksi, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Mohammed Salisu has a good chance of being booked with the talent he is up against.

Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest: Callum Wilson & Jesse Lingard Both to Score - 14/1

Callum Wilson made a big difference when he did play for Newcastle last season, scoring eight goals in 18 appearances, giving him the ninth best goals per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season and after being fit for the whole of pre-season, he could have an even greater impact on a much improved Newcastle team.

The last time we saw Jesse Lingard in a team that was built to his strengths, he was one of the best players in the league, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances for West Ham, and now he is joining a counter-attacking team in Nottingham Forest, it could see him regain form, and as he did for West Ham, score on his debut.

Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Jadon Sancho to Score Anytime - 7/2

After a disappointing first season for Sancho after his high-profile move back to England, if his and Manchester United's pre-season form is anything to go by, this season could look a lot more positive for both the player and club.

Sancho was United's brightest player on their pre-season tour in Thailand and Australia, scoring three goals in four games, with his absence clearly missed in games against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano, and with Brighton losing their starting left back in Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, he could have a field day against Brighton’s backup options.
