Game of Thrones season 8 is fast approaching, with the first episode set to air in the United Kingdom on April 15th. Fans of the show are getting super excited at the prospect of finally finding out how the series will end, and one of the storylines that will come to a conclusion concerns Arya Stark.
[Warning: Potential Game of Thrones spoilers ahead]
It has been some journey for the youngest Stark sister, who began season 1 as just a very young girl. Since then she has witnessed her father Ned Stark being beheaded in Kings Landing, been held hostage by the Brotherhood Without Banners and Sandor Clegane (The Hound) and been beaten to a pulp by the Waif whilst training with the Faceless Men.
Soon into her story, Arya began keeping a 'kill list' full of the names of people she wishes to murder. It's fair to say that the list became quite extensive as she continued to add characters who had wronged her or her family to it.
So far she has managed to kill four people on her list; Walder Frey who orchestrating the Red Wedding which saw her brother and mother die, Polliver and Rorge for torture at Harrenhal and Meryn Trant for killing her friend Syrio Forel.
There are also some characters on her list who have perished, but not by the hands of Arya Stark. Joffrey Baratheon was murdered by Peytr Baelish and Olenna Tyrell, Tywin Lannister was shot with a crossbow by son Tyrion whilst Thoros of Myr froze to death on his mission beyond the wall.
Will Arya be able to cross more people off her list in season 8? We have taken a look at the bookmakers odds to see which Game of Thrones characters she is most likely to kill in the next six episodes.
The Mountain and Ilyn Payne amongst favourites
The outright favourite to be killed by Arya Stark in Game of Thrones season 8 is Gregor Clegane a.k.a the Mountain. He is on her list for partaking in torture at Harrenhal, but the problem is that technically someone already beat her to it. Oberyn Martell fatally poisoned Clegane in battle, but he was resurrected by Qyburn and re-named Ser Robert Strong.
That would surely not stop Arya wanting to put an end to the Mountain once and for all however, and Sky Bet are offering odds of 6/4 for her to kill him in the next season.
Another who is on Arya's list and who bookmakers think she is likely to kill in the upcoming episodes is Ilyn Payne. The reasoning behind her hatred for him is that he was the man who swung the sword and executed her father on the orders of Cersei and Joffrey.
He remains alive and in Kings Landing, which could prove problematic given that Arya is way further north in Winterfell. However the bookmakers think that he is highly likely to be killed by her soon, pricing him at 2/1.
The Hound is also up there on the market with odds of 2/1, but it would be a little heartbreaking for some fans who particularly enjoyed it when the two characters were travelling together during season four. They ended up growing to respect each other somewhat, although Arya did leave him for dead after his sword fight with Brienne of Tarth. In fact she still thinks he is dead having not encountered him since it was revealed he had survived. Would she have the heart to finish him off in the final season?
Cersei Lannister leads the rest of the field for who Arya will kill
Looking further down the market, Cersei Lannister is also considered a character who is likely to meet her end at the hands of Arya Stark. The current Queen of Westeros is hated by Arya for her part in Ned Stark's death, but it would be fair to say that she is not the only one with a distinct dislike for Cersei.
Indeed there is also a separate betting market for who will kill Cersei which highlights that there are plenty of characters who aren't her biggest fan. Her brother Jaime is the outright favourite, but closely followed by Arya who is priced at 5/2 to kill the Queen.
Melisandre is another who is on Arya's list and is 4/1 to perish at the Stark's hand, whilst the only other listed character is Beric Dondarrion, but bookmakers consider him less likely to be killed with odds of 10/1.
As for outsiders, it is 10/1 for her to kill her brother Bran Stark, whilst her sister Sansa is way out at 66/1. The character least likely to be killed by Arya according to bookmakers is Samwell Tarly who is priced at a massive 100/1.
