Barnsley vs Lincoln City Prediction, Tips & Stats

Barnsley and Lincoln City will clash at the Oakwell Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the Tykes look to further establish themselves as a contender to jump back into the Championship this season with them still in fourth right now.

Barnsley have 19 wins on the board but now 10 draws after a tie with Bolton Wanderers up in second place during the week. The club did, however, manage to keep up its healthy unbeaten run as a result, and with 66 goals now scored, this means only Peterborough United have bagged more from the 35 games so far. Better yet, Barnsley also have a game in hand on Bolton and Derby County above them in the table, meaning they could end up jumping into second if form continues and they win that extra match.

John McAtee was back amongst the goals in the last outing with Donovan Pines also scored in the second half, but with a finish from Bolton in the 98th minute that day and another goal in the second half, this did also see Neill Collins' men drop two points from a 2-0 lead.

Nevertheless, Barnsley have also managed to beat Derby at Oakwell in the past few weeks and head to Wycombe Wanderers and win 4-2 as well. Further wins over Leyton Orient and Fleetwood Town alongside draws with Shrewsbury Town and Bolton since the start of February mean a seven-game unbeaten run since a home loss to Exeter City at the end of January.

As for Lincoln, it's been another mediocre season for them. The club remain in 10th spot with 13 wins and 10 defeats on the board, but they too have gone on an unbeaten run this past month to rocket them into the top half of the table.

The Imps drew at home to Stevenage in the last outing and also managed to get a 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town before that. Further wins over Port Vale and Exeter mean they are on a better run than most in League One right now, as they've also managed to draw with Charlton Athletic, Derby, Wycombe and Peterborough recently, alongside wins over Burton Albion and Fleetwood.

The one and only loss for Lincoln in 2024 was against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on New Year's Day, meaning a two-month unbeaten run.

          Barnsley team news

There were no new injuries picked up for Barnsley in the Tuesday clash with Bolton. Devante Cole and John McAtee did come off that day but are fit to play, but we may also see Sam Cosgrove come in after missing that game. Conor Grant and Corey O'Keefe also missed out during the week and may start.

          Lincoln City team news

Lincoln were not in midweek action which does seem to have allowed Moylan to regain full fitness after picking up a knock against Stevenage. Dylan Duffy and Freddie Draper are now back and could feature in this match.
